  1. I want to start by thanking everybody that participates in this forum you provide so much great information and encouragement it is greatly appreciated, Well, finally fixed the brakes going to the floor on my 98 outback, after pulling a lot of my hair trying to bleed them I tried different ways to no avail, finally asked a friend to help me and the first thing he noticed was the front calipers were inverted the right one was on the left and the left on the right side making the bleed valve being at the bottom and impossible to bleed properly , once we reverted them and bled the system the brakes started to work the way they are supposed to, the moral of the story sometimes we are in a hurry to do things that overlook small details with great consequences.
  2. I replaced the entire line from the master cyl. to the junction under the seat and the one from under the seat over the fuel tank to the rear calipers, I don't see a leak nowhere the master cylinder is brand new, I used 3 pints of brake fluid to bleed using different methods and I primed the master cyl. before installation, it's just driving me crazy.
  3. I recently purchased a 98 outback the brake lines were so rusted they were leaking in some places, I replaced the lines and the master cylinder, I primed it before installation, bled the brakes the old way 2 men system, the brakes continue to go to the floor, I tryied the vacuum sytem and still the brake pedal keeps going to the floor,I don't see any leaks any where any sugestions I don't have much hair left to pull
  4. I found a transmission out of 1998 impreza the numbers are the same as the ones on my tranny ecxept for the last 3 digita mine areTZ102Z2DBA and the one on the impreza is TZ102Z26AA can some one tell me what is the difference and if will it work on my 1998 outback
  5. do you think for the sound of it could it be the differential
  6. unfurtunately I bought it at an auction in DC and didn't checked til I had bought it so I dont know much about the little wagon I do know that the sway bar was disconnected and for the looks on the fender inner skirt the tire had been rubbing against it and the r/s cv was disconected from the side next to the differential
  7. the car wont moove when I put it in drive or reverse but I can hear grinding in the right side I replaced the r/s cv axle because the old one had pulled apart from the inner axle, since I'm new to Subies is the differential in front of the tranny or is it one piece.
  8. thank you very much for the great advise I will start looking for one that fits, it is or was a good running car only 88K miles, do you know of a good source that won't rip you off selling you junk either in VA or MD in the meantime I will be selling or trading the TZ1A3ZC2AA-P8
  9. I have a 1998 outback with a bad automatic transmission # TZ102Z2DBA AWD, sombody offer me a tranny from a 1999 forester AWD # TZ1A3ZC2AA-P8 I see some diferences on the tranny's like the one for the forester has a filter on the side is this just and upgrade or is it tottaly different wil it fit the outback please help this is my first Subaru I have never been even close to one but I;m learning quick.
  10. Thank you for the advise, where is that fuse located, engine compartment or left side kick plate? I forgot to mention that even in park the vehicle will roll like a gear is not connected, I just got a tranny from a 1999 Forester AWD do you think it will fit ?
  11. My 1998 outback AWD makes a noise like a grinding gear and wont move I thought it was the cv axle r/s so I replaced it, istill wont work evidently is something mayor any ideas on the repair needed or can I sawp a tranny from a 1999 forester awd?
