  2. it sounds like you already made up your mind.

Outback: "Perfect condition...every luxury... smooth... powerful..."

Forester: "little noisier... less well built... clunkier..."

looks like you jsut have to decide which features are important to you.

We had a hard time deciding between an outback and a forester. but it came down to a few things for us... the ride hight was PERFECT for egress/ingress for my wife (she was pregnant at the time). The forester had more cargo room. We didn't like the way the 2nd row seat folded down on the outback (had to raise the bottom cushion). and (this was actually a major point) we HATED the 2-tone color schemes of the outback. while the forester had it too, at least it was silver and grey, a combo we could live with.

Funny thing is now, those reasons are all irrelevent... wife's not pregnant anymore so who cares about egress/ingress. car seats occupy the 2nd row so we never fold down the seats anyway. and now subaru has FINALLY done away with the 2-tone color scheme.

So it all depends on what you like. BTW all those descriptive words you used above to describe what you liked about the outback, also describe the tribeca.:brow:

Sorry I love the foresters, Tend to be well beefier. More rugged. Never owned a outbackbut like the suv over a wagon. :horse:
  3.
Seafoam is a fantastic gunk/varnish solvent in a can that you can pick up at most Pep Boys or Car Quest stores. And actually, now that I'm relocated to Denver from SoCal, I can say for sure that SeaFoam is stocked at the Pep Boys in Wheat Ridge (saw it there yesterday)! There's a great post in the archives here somewhere that shows you how to suck SeaFoam in thru the intake manifold to clean the entire top end of your engine. A little smoky, but worth it if you have a high mileage engine and you want to unstick some gunked up valves, etc. before changing oil the next time.
Do you like seafoam or lucas gas treatment better? I have always liked lucas gas and oil treatment. Mike
  4. Ok Been a new member for alittle time. About a year. Been wanting to start a post. I have a 86 brat, Clean but needs cleaned up and personalized. I have plans on that alittle at a time. I want to add a lift. 3 inch from Ozfied. But I will be asking some people alittle advice along the way. McBrat been a big help too. Well as I go along Ill add pictures of my progress. Hope to have it lifted and painted by july. Nice to meet you all. Mike :headbang:

  5. Whats the easiest fix for the wind noise in a 2003 forester 2.5x?

Ditto on the roof rack making some noise... and... I've noticed with the frameless windows on Subies a little trick that works for us. Sometimes the window doesn't "seal" tightly when you pull the door shut... you have to lower the window an inch or so, then raise it back up... the wind noise is reduced a lot when we've tried this. It works much better in my wife's car (TS) though... probably a difference in cars plus the 2 year old still spongy seal vs. mine at 8 years old.

  6. That sounds like it be nice to have power windows. Guess Id rather keep it simple. Sorry I wasnt any help but Thanks

you need the regs from a 2 door coupe. the 4 dr ones wont work properly because they are smaller.

*NOTE: I haven't done the swap, this is information from a past conversion by Richierich some years ago..... I hope my memory is correct.....
