  1. Thanks already in the plans. So its not the same kit? I put one on the 95 a while back.
  2. I pretty much have made up my mind that I'm goving up on the rustbucket '97 I bought, I found it has been hit hard on the right front, between the rust and other damage won't pass inspection. The engine has 105k on it, the trans is out already for a clutch replacement, just looking at it would'nt be much more to just pull the motor go thru it on a stand and swap it to my '95 thats already on the road, take every salvageable part off it and scrap it, I just bought a clutch kit so that wouldnt go to waste, they are both 2.2 5spds the biggest difference I see is in the plenum box, but I assume everything else is the same, any thought or things to look for specifically? My 95 is pushing 280k is tired, Thanks for any input. Charlie
  3. Thanks, I wasn't going to unless I had to, I assumed thats where it was leaking.
  4. I'm replacing the clutch in my '97 legacy 2.2. I noticed oil at the bottom of the flywheel area, Figured it was from the rear main seal, I took the flywheel off to be surfaced so no big deal, At the back of the block you have the crank and to the right theres a plastic cover, the oil appears to be leaking around that cover and not from seal, question is what is that cover callled, whats behind it, does it have a gasket or is just sealed with some sort of sealant before I take it off. It has 110k on it, I could find anything in my book on it ,while I have it tore down so far I'm going to change the rack too, whats another couple hundred bucks right, this thing has been a pile of problems since I bought it, by the time its on the road, it'll have new rockers, clutch, axles, timing belt/waterpump kit, should be like new. It's the tale of two cars, under the hood looks great, wheels up, clean car, underneath a rustbucket, I couldnt get a good look sitting on the grass, time its done it will be reliable. Thanks Charlie
  5. Never mind , it was just stuck, after I realized it was a spade connector I figured it should just slide off. It did with a little help.
  6. I have a '97 legacy, doing a clutch replacement, taking the starter off, I trying to remove the, I assume the solenoid lead wire, the plastic keeper the holds the wire lead is what I can't figure out, I know the end drops down and I can see the wire terminal but cant get it to release, This may be a stupid question, but its stumping me. Thanks.
  7. Ok this thing is driving me nuts, switch works, checked the sockets, fine, trying to trace the wires back, my haynes manual shows everything except the backup switch, unless I'm missing something . Theres no power at the plugs where the sockets plug in so I'm figuring there has to be a break where it comes thru the hatch door. Any other thoughts. Maybe I should just pull the motor and put it in the '95 this thing has been more hassle than what its worth.
  8. Okay I've seen that there are two sensors or something on the drivers side, I guess they just screw in? I wonder what the actual name of it is, havent been able to find the part yet.
  9. No back up lights on a 97 legacy, possible causes? Doesnt seem to be power at the sockets, the running lights n the hatch are working, all the other lights are working, is there a switch or sensor? Thanks.
  10. Looking at some other issues on this new to me 97. Looks like oil dripping from the lower timing belt cover, seal? Also looks like axles too, both boots are tore. I can deal with the leak later, and do the timing belt/ all the other crap kit, which I remember was alot of fun on the '95 along with the axles.
  11. If thats the case, I guess I can cut the ones out of the '95. I did find some brand new ones outer skins 120 per side on a subaru site.
