What kind of conditions does it overheat under? City driving? Highway? Does it lose coolant at all?
It usually happens going down the highway. Seems to boil the coolant out of the overflow tank but leaves some in the rad.

Have tried two known good stats.Thermostat? -
I replaced an engine in a 89 DL wagon (Jap motor w\40k on it).
It has an occasional overheat problem. Doesn't seem to matter what the outside temp is or driving conditions. Can go for several days (owner puts on 60 miles per day driving to work) without heating up and then all of a sudden one day it will overheat. Timing has been rechecked and is right on. Almost seems like a restriction in a hose (flap of rubber etc...).
Was advised to replace radiator.... had flow checked on current one and it seems to be ok.
Any suggestions!!!

Bravo...If you are good at throwing the wrench then you should be able to do the job yourself with the help of Josh (legacy777) he helped me with my oilpump seals and reinstalling the timing belt.
Thanks,
Yeah I am an automotive technician, however I don't have any books that show the procedure for this new of a car.
I own a small used car dealership and this is one of the two that I recently picked up to resell.
I think Josh can help out with his diagrams and info.
Appreciate the feedback.

It's pretty simple but we need to know whats under the hood. 2.2 or 2.5?
Welcome aboard...
Sorry, It is a 2.2L.

The real problem with this picture is that you are at WyoTech.
I have worked with some that did the wyotech thing and they should have been banned from picking up a wrench or any tool.
Good luck!!

Hello,
I am a new member and have some questions for y'all.
I have a 1996 Legacy with the crank seal leaking. Never had one of these apart and would like to know the correct procedure for removing the timing belt.
How to align it etc...
Thanks
