  1. I'm pulling my engine out of my 83 brat turbo. I was wondering how many bolts to remove where the engine and flywheel meet(I thinks it called the flywheel the part in front of the drive axles)? Also if you can tell me where the bolts are located? Just like to say thank you I couldn't of done any of this with out USMB. As you can tell I'm no motor head.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  2. Thanks Skip

I found it and tested it with specs i got from another post. It measured in spec.

So what else could be wrong. It starts up great and runs smooth. If i shut it off and start it up again it will start, but if I shut it off and leave it for 30 sec. it wont start. I have to wait about a hour before it will start do you have any other ideas whats wrong.

    Thanks

    Kevin

  3. Thermostat

Remove the two 12mm bolts that hold the top thermostat housing to the intake manifold. On turbo models, disconnect the AAV hose from the intake manifold. Remove the AAV and thermostat housing as one unit. Scrape away any old gasket material. Remove and inspect the thermostat, boil it in water to see if it opens at its specified temp. It’s always a safe bet to replace with a new unit.

    Whats the AAV?

    Thanks
