  1. I did use Trans x. It seemed to hell at first but only for a few weeks. I will try another bottle. I did not do the swap, bought it from a Subaru mechanic.
  2. The filler has a leak so my wife can not get any fuel into the tank. Sometimes it dosnt leak right away but today she could not add any fuel as it just runs all over the ground. Is there any type of liner I could use or does it need to be replaced. Also, the tranny is getting worse. Long delay before going into drive. I already changed fluid/filter and used stop slip. What's next? Thanks
  3. So it's been quite some time since the trans has clunked into gear, but the delay in going into drive has gotten worse. I changed the fluid/filter and exchanged a quart of tranny flyid for stop slip but it is not helping. Should I add more stop slip? How long until it just stops working? The car is probably not worth a rebuilt tranny.
  4. Thanks for the reply. Could the large connectors cause the hard down shift and then the AT light? The humming gets louder if I unbuckle the air box, maybe thats just the way this motor sounds.
  5. I have a 2000 outback with a 2.2 from a 98 Impreza. Every once in a while and with no apparent rhyme or reason, when coming to a stop the trans will slam into probably 1st and the AT oil temp light comes on. It has happened maybe 5 times in the past few months. After the first time i had the trans fluid changed and a new filter put on. The fluid was and is very clean. Any ideas as to what is going on? Also, lately I have noticed a loud humming noise coming from the air intake. If I unlatch the filter box it is really loud. This is my wifes car so I am not in tune with it but it seems to me to be a new noise. Thanks for any info y'all may have.
  6. All of the above lead me to believe this is normal mpg's. It is winter, the drives are rarley more then a few miles. Not really "city" driving but a few hills and stop signs. The wires look new but I'm not sure of the plugs. No check engine light. I thought these cars got around 20-28. Sounds like that may not be the case. Also, last night I noticed that the tranny would sometimes change gears while I was driving in the 55-60mph range. Like it couldn't decided which gear was best for the mph. Is is normal or a sign of a tranny issue. Thanks
  7. Our recently purchased 99 outback with a 2.2 from a 98 impreza is averaging around 18.5mgp. What gives? I was hoping for low to mid 20's. Is this normal? Anything I can do to improve the mpg? Thanks
  8. Thanks for the pic. It does have an EGR valve. Question for you. When I change the tranny fluid, do I change it two times and then on the third change replace the spin on filter? Would it be pointless to just change it once. I don't have a garage and the weather can be a challage this time of year. If I buy the fluid and filter, a local place will drain and fill for $20 a pop. Thanks Thanks
  9. I am not sure. If I get a chance I will ask the guy who did the swap. There is no check engine light on and everything works as it should.
  10. Thanks for the replys. I will change the trans fluid and filter next chance I get. The motor came from a 98 impreza so it would be an interferance motor. The guy that did the swap told me the belt looked new and to wait 60k. He would do the pump and belt at that point for $300. Thanks again
  11. I just purchased a 99 Outback that had recently had a 2.2 ( 80,000 miles ) from an impreza installed. So far everthing seems ok. A little underpowerd going up hills but oh well. My main concern is the tranny ( 130,000 on car and tranny ). Its only been a week since owning the vehicle and my wife is the main driver but we have noticed on occasion that it has a delay going into drive, from park or reverse. This doesn't happen all the time but is an issue. I've read quite a bit about this issue and the seal that goes bad. It sounds like many have had success with changing the fluid and adding Trans X. Is this still the ideal solution? Any other things I should know about this car or the 2.2 swap? I like to do my own wrenching but don't have a garage so its difficult in the northern Mi. winters. Thanks for any help/advice.
