  1. How do I run a 2000 outback wagon 4 E.A.T. in a 1990 Legacy wagon

  2. Not sure if this is the right place to post, technology impaired. Anyway here,s my new issue. I pulled into my drive way this spring having to push through the snow berm the plow had left. I made it about eight feet. All the sudden it was as if someone had pulled the brake. This has never happened before. I put hundreds of miles pushing through snow in very remote places,so glad this happened in the driveway. With the car on jackstands, running,in drive, at idle the tires turn. If I put it in third, I have to give it gas but tires still turn fairly easy. If I put it in second noticable binding. When in first I have to floor it to get them to turn. Shows no codes. Was working perfect. 1990 legacy 2.2 4eat. Any help or ideas would be great
  3. I personaly like to get um from the top. Go ahead and take the time and remove whatever you need to give you room. Be very carefull during install, don't drop um.
  4. Funky. Try hot wiring pump. see if that helps. As for the tensioner pulley , ithink some guys are confusing it with the ac belt it has a three bolt bracket wich is removable. Timing belt tensioner pulley is bolted to the block directly. These threads are usually stripped when someone tries to reinstall pulley without collapsing the tensioner ram. Rethread, helicoil, jb weld, whatever should do it. there is sideways force on this but nothing pulling against it. This has happened to me before. The last subi i bought jumped time because of the the steam from a bad water pump washed out the bearings on the bottom idler wheel causing the wheel to sporaticaly sieze, jumping time. If this things having fuel problems a backfire or stutter could possibly make it jump time. what codes did it show?
  5. thank you for the ideas guys. limp mode may be the problem. yes i know the forced 4wd is not good, but its got summer tires and i couldn't find dry pavment if i tried(november in Ak). Speedo works fine. No atf in the diff, I think the previous owner topped off tranny with gear lube. Going to replace duty b solenoid with a new one. While I got it open I think I will pull the shift servo and see if maybe the lube damaged the O rings. B.T.W. I drove this thing 120 miles round trip to work today 65 mph at 3800 rpm, third gear 4wd locked via duty c switch, God these things are tough!
  6. recently purchased 1991 legacy. If i leave the car in drive, it shifts from 1st to third. There is no second or drive. Self diagnostic shows duty b solenoid.tightend brake band, now i can get second if i take rpms to 4500 and let off. When i drained fluid I got a hint of gear lube. Changed solenoid b, still showing code 12-selinoid b. It's like the shift servo is not working. Maybe toast brake band? Can solenoid b effect the shift servo opperation? Also awd is not working. Clipped white and black wire at t.c.u.- duty c, bam 4wd. Assuming worn clotches in rear, don't know about 2nd and 4th. Any ideas?
