  1. If you move the seat rails that far back be sure to get a racing seat and a 5 point harness to eliminate the seat belt problem and stay safe. Greg...
  2. Thanks for the quick reply The Scooby. I think I will heed your advice since the gas here already has methonal in it. I think I will just suck it up and buy some 100 unleaded race gas and add a gallon or two to each tank. The race gas is denser and it is not oxyegenated nor does it contain any alcohal. But it costs $7.40 a gallon! Ouch. Greg. Also to answer your question. I am running the boost at 14-15psi. But I have run it at short bursts up to 20psi. But since the gas is weak the knock sensor will usually cut the engine out after about 15psi. Cause octaine is too low. the race gas helps this though. And the spool up and power are better. But I can't buy a full tank of race gas all the time. Greg...
  3. What brand of Octaine Boost do you use? How big a difference you gain in spool up and power in your turbos? Greg..
  4. I posted many weeks ago with a sudden drop in boost in my 2005 Baja turbo. Since so many of you have been so helpfull I wanted to thank you and keep you all updated. I drove my Baja from Montana to California for bussiness. seems the gas in California is even worse than we all thought. I was getting 12-14psi of boost in Montana. (Good gas) In california after using the gas there I started getting about 6-10psi. (Bad low octaine Oxygenated gas!) Wow I didn't know that. I took the car to the dealer, they scanned it and found nothing. They did reccommend Chevron gas. Though it is still oxygenated gas, just a little better quality. Still low boost. I took it back again to the dealer again, they reset the ECU. Tech said car is running good. I explained about the boost to the tech this time, not the advisor. He said 6-10psi is normal. By now it's been about a month and I 'm getting pissed off. I know 6-10psi is low. I bring the car back a third time. I finally got the tech to admit that ths Baja has the potential to put out that kind of boost, in the right conditions. (I hope I'm not boaring anybody with this.) Tech says ECU mapped out less boost since gas in California sucks. The tech says I am persistant. Needless to say I make some phone calls, do some quick dissconnects and now I got my boost back. I have to use a Racing Octaine booster cause the gas sucks in California and be carefull not to overboost the engine causing it to blow up. Now I can get short bursts up to about 20psi. But it's more like 14psi cause the engine knock controller will cut the engine at about 15psi usually. But the better gas I use, the more boost I can get. But I am afraid to go over about 14-15psi cause I don't want to blow the engine. I am sastified. Thank you SUBARU3 and Texas S and any body else I might have forgotten, Greg...
  5. Thats good news! The dealer actually found a problem and fixed it. Lets call CNN and tell them to run a story, since Subaru hardly ever finds any problems with their cars. Let alone fixes them, welldone GTBear. Greg..
  6. GTBear. Hi, Please tell me if you checked the ratiator in the morning, and did It have coolent in it? If the resovoir is empty but he radiator is full You might have a cracked resovoir. The change in temp can cause expantion and contraction of the plastic resovoir and crack it over time. Did your temp. climb when you drove the car? What did the coolent if any look like in the radiator? How does the engine run? We need some more info. Please update us on you condition. Good luck Greg...
  7. Sounds like a good idea. I am always carefull dealing with internet companies. You have to be, other wise you can get stuck with items that aren't what you really wanted. I think I will call and ask. Excelleration seems like a good company and thay have an awsome selection of subby parts. Texas S is a good guy and is a big help. But I was quoting from Excellerations own terms and conditions rules on their website. If you go to order form page you will see read terms and conditions at the top. Click on it and it will read the same. Greg.
  8. Texas S, I think I am somewhat mistaken. The company is in Vermont and I like their product line, it is the most extensive I've ever seen. I didn't say they had shoddy parts. Just thst their return policy states any defective part must be called in for a return auth. number within three days of said part being received by customer. Heck, some parts could take two or three days to install and see if the are working the way you want them too. Greg..
  9. If people like Mustangs thats cool. I don't care for them either. Subarus are a little more expensive than other cars for good reason. I don't wanna be part of the "In Crowd" So I own a 05 Baja Turbo. Greg..
  10. Texas S, Thank you very much. I was a little confused about what I needed. You are correct, I don't need a blow off valve. I am not running enough boost to need one. The stock valve is fine. I am however ordering a boost controller to increase boost to 15psi. I have seen Excelleation.com and I like their products however their return policy is terrible. Like three days from receiving parts. Since they are located in New Zealand or something I ordered from a place in Los Angelas called Turbo X. They have a 90 day return policy and their boost controllers are aluminum not plastic, so I feel more comfortable with them. Thanks Greg... P.S. I'll let you guys know how it goes with the new boost controller. They are supposed to be real easy to install.
  11. Hi, can any one please direct me to a web site that sells reliable turbo upgrade parts. Thank you Greg.
  12. Hi, Does anybody know where to get an after market pop off valve for the Turbo. Also any good or bad experiences with installing one or with a certain companys parts? Thank you Greg.
  13. Yea, lots of good advice on this forum. I used to draft trucks when I was a teenager, 10 feet off the rear bumper. It works great at that distance. But like they said dangerous. I don't do it any more, I don't do most things I used to do as a kid. Greg..
  14. WWNH, Jeff. No problem. Thank you for the reply. I have never owned a Subaru before and I think I have alot to learn about the strange engine particulars. Such as the rocker covers holding oil long after the car has been shut off, giving a low oil reading. Thank you all for the help with my questions. Greg...
