its a 1989 Subaru GL 4WD with 119,000 had it for 2 years and could never get to drive it it was my first car I got it as a graduation present but I didn't have my license so I hardly got to drive it. Then I went to college and then got my license then went to get it inspected and thats when I found out that I had a couple of holes in the exhaust one in the pipe leading into the catalitic converter. Then some in the resonator pipe and the little piece of what was the pipe that led into the muffler that the cherry bomb was attached to rusted butI think all this damage was caused by the shop that replaced the clutch. They had it for 3 months and when it left it had NO problems then the exhaust got loud. I later found out that my mother told me that the shop wanted the car and she wouldn't sell it to them so I think they damaged my exhaust. Then I went to get it inspected and they said $1,000.00 at one place and $800.00 at another.

Yes I still have it I tried to donate it to a charity but they wouldn't take it and as far as I know all I need is the entire exhaust for the car wish I would have known that someone would have donated the exhaust because in Pa a cherry bomb is illegal for inspection (its too loud) plus I was quoted $1000 for the whole exhaust the cat and everything. Wish I would have known earler because there is a new clutch with 40 miles on it and I think its a waste to just get rid of it.

It is a sad day for me I can't afford to get the subaru's exhaust fixed so I am forced to junk it:( :( now I have a VW golf and I hate the damn thing clutch is going leeks oil need crankshaft oil seal camshaft oil seal mother bought me the vw because I needed a car to go to work in and I think the subaru is more reliable and easer to drive. If anyone has never seen the shift pattern in a VW reverse is first. but don't worry as soon as I can afford another subaru I WILL be back and driveing it and not the POS VW I am driven by whats inside SUBARU.

I've been wondering about something for a while I have an 89 Gl and I was wondering if the clutch is supposed to be so light its like almost pushing on nothing at all. just wondering if this is common or if this is just my car(just had the clutch replaced)

I have a 89 Subaru GL hatchback with 4WD and its alittle beat up and and I want it to look like a rally car so I was wondering if anyone would know where to get a nice light bar and some fog lamps,roof and hood scoop

but what does GL mean? you know SS stands got super sport you know.

I was wondering if anyone knows what GL stands for? Also I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between, the GL and the GL-10.

I was watching a rally race and I seen a Subaru GL raceing and it had a scoop on the roof and a hood scoop. I was wondering if anyone would know where I could get on because thats the coolest thing I ever seen on this kind of car. I would have asked the driver after the race but I couldn't find him. I also was wondering if anyone has this problem but when I hit the gas the car is sluggish and I checked the fuel lines and changed the air fileter but nothing works. Then I poped the hood and manually opened the throtle and it has the same problem. I was wondering if anyone could help. P.S. as a side note the car did win the race.

thanks skip but I cleaned my engine off last night and I found a stamp on the block and it said EA82 I dont know if the engine was transplanted or if it came stock with it but im sure its an EA 82

I have a 1989 subaru GL hatchback with a carb and I want to rally race the car and I was wondering if a WRX engine will fit in the car because I hate the carb and want fuel injecton and a turbo, bigger more powerful engine since I took it to a shop to get the cylinders bored out and the heads port and polished and the shop laughed at me saying "its a wast of time and money to bore out and port and polish the engine for rally racing just go out and buy a WRX" then I told them I couldn't afford a WRX cuz im a college student and can't afford it. Also if anyone rally races what would be the way to modify the car for rally racing.

I have an 1989 Subaur GL harckback its my first car im 19 and was wondering insted of being like everyone else getting a Honda civic(they suck). Could anyone me on what would be the better of the 2 rally race the car or modify it be a show car. I know I cant have both a rally car that looks like it should be in the fast and the furious movies. When I first got the car thats what I wanted but I like rally cars more. My friends say I should get rid of the car and get a WRX Sti since I refuse to buy anything but Subarus(SUBARU RULES) they say They look good and I can rally race them. Can anyone help me decide.
