  3. Hasn't been that cold ?But- no power too fuel pump and would not fire with ether (starting fluid)That's what I came here for, thinking I couldn't be the first one this has happened to. Although this brat likes to be run every day-if it sits a few days it turns over like 30 times to start-if everyday just a couple turns and its running some one said this year was set up to run fuel pump when key is in start position and not just- power-will power fuel pump ? ?
  4. Inside of cap was dry before - how long an far? Leave my newer ford home, Drive all the time when ever I need to go anywhere 3 to 5 times a week Usually not to far town is about 80 miles round trip.When I got the Brat last winter got no information or history with it,So i replaced a lot of the cheaper parts-plugs&plug wires cap rotor module coil pvc oil psi sending unit water pump oil pump alternator ignition switch (couldn't get key out half the time)All filters air gas oil and All fluids and all air lines Had a problem few months back,And had the carb rebuilt Twice not right the first time.Cleaned out fuel tank had hole fixed replaced and blew out lines and put on a new fuel pump. AND now several months have just driven it,Parked on side hill and car wouldn't start rolled down to flat ground to work on the next day .Next day it ran but didnt go anywhere that day next day would not start No Way And No did not wet plugs,, sprayed sparingly a little at a time trying to start.I had pulled plugs earlier to see if they were wet with gas from trying to start day before they were not.
  5. IT Started right up ? Checked everthing as was suggested above,The coil plugs plug wires dis cap rotor control unit are all new checked anyway,as well as grounds new fuel pump new ignition--- pulled fuel pump controller out took apart nothing burned (don't know how to test) put it back together an put it back in.Turn the key and it started ?So I will get new fp controler,Thinking it may quit again if thats what it is,Or was ????thank you all
  6. Every Time I think I'm done,And it's running like a dream,I have another nightmare.This time Brat Will not start-wont pump fuel and will not fire.Has good spark Turns over well, Even with starting fluid- will not fire.What would kill power to fuel pump and not allow it to start ?Help Thank you
  7. Okay Now that I have your attention , Do have wires either side of carb and one towards front right and one to air cleaner bottom.Still not seeing computer, And if it has not got one ? What would Stop the engine from starting and not pump gas------New fuel pump--That has been working fine.Still have spark at plugs --Will not start Even with starting fluid NOTHING Is there another sensor?What and where ?Thank you

  9. did not realize there were two pages to this question just found it, a month later ?thats out of the box,but i like it set it where i need it -because i still have not found whats going on as some times it runs fine. then 50 or so 3rd and it starts again ?thank you

Just had carb rebuilt called an talked to rebuilder about above condition of brat,he said same thing about blocking alt-comp and said very doubtful that it was running short of gas that even if gas is at bottom of glass an just visible,that the jet is in very bottom and would have more than enough to run as it should,he didnt ask about altitude though?That is about 1750 feet? He did say somthing about rejetting the carb as it was all back to stock specks at rebuild,saying maybe the thing to do because of it being a high milage rig,didn't think that 300K was to high for a subaru It sure runs good, until it doesn't I will try running and shutting it down at just that point of weakness it jumps back an forth fairly quickly . thank you

Okay all hose has been replaced,then blocked off altitude compensator,And it restarts and runs pretty good even after driving and getting up temp and shutting down, when before on restart it it would not unless cooled down with water or time. But now third gear at about 50 to 55-3K on tack it acts as if its running out of fuel 55 down to 50 then back again over and over, not wanting to go above that . Cant go fast enough in 4th to get it to do again,not doing it in second at same rpm So now what?
  12. Found two very short vac hose's that I had past up on earlier guest's.Went through- every - thing one more time vacuum switches ,found restrictors in tacked , in tees ? And so far so good,Very good THANK YOU ALL AGAIN dont think you can beat this site for information and help some times hard to relay a problem( 4 me anyway )
