So I am thinking of replacing the fuel tank myself but not sure if it is beyond my capabilities. Can anyone give me a step by step on how to replace the fuel tank on my 1986 Subaru GL 10 Turbo wagon? I was thinking I would replace the fuel pump at the same time. Thank you

Thank you all for your feedback. I think I am going to replace the gas tank and fuel pump and see if that solves the problem.

Hey there, I just bought this 1986 Subaru GL 10 Turbo as a project car. The guy I bought it from did a bunch of work to it : head gaskets, water pump, timing belt, plugs and wires, coil, axels. He said he thinks the gas tank needs to be cleaned or replaced as the car had a starting issue when it got below half tank. I haven't had any starting problems. My problem is that it loses power at higher RPM. It bogs down and acts like it is starving for fuel/air. I replaced the fuel filter and it helped a little bit but still has the problem. Should I replace the gas tank? Or could it be the MAP sensor or the ECU? Thank you
