  1. Hello, I have a little problem with my 1995 Subaru Legacy. For the last 2 months or so I have been noticing a strong gas smell whenever I use my blower/defrost. It seems to be getting worse. I have to drive with the windows cracked to breathe! I checked the air filter and it seems to fine. I have not noticed any change in the mileage of the car, so I am not sure if I have a fuel leak or what. Has anybody else experienced this or have any advice for me? Thank you! The USMB is awesome!
  2. timing is fine, I replaced plugs, wires, fuel filter, and have a clean air filter. Pretty sure it is a misfire somewhere in the ignition sequence but can't find it!
  3. It's not a plugged cat. It does not looose power, more like a sputtery, chug in order to gain power and will not say, move out from a stop light or have the abilty to turn left across a couple lanes of traffic, unless the coast is completely clear. I have tried a new ignition coil, not the prob.... a new (2nd) dist,. cap, not the problem.... any ideas????!!!!
  4. OK , I have a 1987 4wd gl wagon that is causing me some headaches. About 1 month ago it became very sluggish and there is a noticeable lack of power when you press on the accelerator. The car doesn't stall or die if you mash on the pedal but the rpms drop all the way. It works best if I feather it slightly. It was pretty hot here when this problem started and I had a small coolant leak (now fixed), so i feel like I might have blown a gasket or something? I replaced the plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor hoping it would help but problem is still there. The car has 270k and i don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but would like to drive it for at least 6 more months. When I did my last tune up, it had a similar prob and was told to replace the intake manifold and gaskets. This was pricey... can I do it myself? Is it the problem????!!! oh, yeah heavy skid plates under car make it very hard to get at the fuel filter.... Thanks for your help!!!
  5. wow, thank you for the quick responses and the picture!!!! I will be working on it tomorrow. Happy new year everyone. LS
  6. Please help! I own a 1987 gl wagon with 267,000 miles on it and 3 of my blower speeds have quit working. About 4 years ago speeds 1 and 3 quit working, so I operated with #2 and 4. But about eight months ago speed #2 quit as well. It is now cold and I like to have heat, but now can only blast myself and all my passengers with #4 blower speed. Is this fuse related? I saw a post that said to ceck the connections from the relay switch under the ignition, I have a star-gaurd starter disabler so this makes it more difficult to check my connections under the ignition as the star-guards wiring is loose and I have to jiggle it to make the connection and get the starter to turn over. Please let me know if you have any suggestions? Thank You, LS
