  1. I just wanted to thank everyone for their help on my 88 GL WAGON. I've got it running awesome and after an oil change and oil flush and getting some 91 gas into it after draining the old shitty gas and new spark plugs it's running amazing and has no ticking at all anymore. Thanks everyone again for the help. From what I have learned from everyone on the forum I will pass my knowledge down to the next newbie like myself. Wasn't a bad turnout for a $400 subie about to be crushed at the junkyard. Just had to fix the guys crazy wiring he "rigged" up. I wish I knew how to post pics because this is a nice car with a few spots of rust and brilliant paint not faded at all. Just need a new fender and to pull a dent in the good after the guy at the junkyard ran into it with the loader, not paying attention of course, after I had already paid for the car. But other than dents and 3 tiny surface rust spots it's in amazing condition!
  2. Scratch that it was a water pump with timing belts and all that. Anyone have an oil pump laying around?
  3. I can't seem to find an oil pump alone. I keep finding kits with new timing belts, there's brand new belts already on it
  4. Oh fantastic haha. I have to find out where it is and get crackin again. I appreciate everyone's help so much! By the time I'm done I'll be an expert at these EA82 engines
  5. Ok I got it running! Thanks so much everyone! Are these motors normally noisey? It runs very steady but I can hear what sounds like the valves ticking but unusually loud it seems
  6. I've that clip disty wired as you said Tom and when I put a plug directly off the ignition coil I get spark!!! Thanks for the help, now I've got to make sure my engine is timed correctly and the distributor installed and wiring to spark plugs correct before I try starting her. Is there a best place to start? I wanna be extra sure I get it right the first time. I've done it on a Ford 300 I6 but that's a totally different beast, this subie seems much more complicated to get timing marks correct
  7. I've come across a distributor. But it's the older "clip style" 4 wire. Would I be able to use it in my 88? It's a 22100 AA053

  9. I'm on a mission to get this thing running now, thanks everyone for all the help!
  10. TomRhere that's the wires I've got out of my main harness to the disty, I can try and go with that thanks! First I need to get a disty and hopefully not pay an outrageous price
  11. It's got a boot on the throttle body that goes to an air filter in a metal intake box on the passenger side. And the 90 degree plastic boot off the throttle body has F.I. Written on it
  12. I know it's a EA 82 engine with F.I I believe it's single fuel injection because it still has a carb. Sorry if I'm way wrong, it's my first time workin on a older subie like this
  13. Thanks everyone, I'm going to try and get my hands on a new distributor and see what I can do. The one I've got is no good, anyone have one for sale? There's no junk yards around me that have an old subie and I don't wanna pay napas outrageous $300 price tag
  14. Is that 88 GL suppose to have a 2 or 4 wire distributor? The previous owner really did a number on rigging all the electrical. And there's a blue wire near the battery that looked like it was suppose to plug into something, any chance I'm missing a relay too? And going to need a new distributor, looks like some metal shavings are broken off in the current one. Anyone have a distributor for my 88 GL, no vacuum advance, it's a FI
