  1. so it looks like there is no written shop manual like a haynes, etc to be found?
  2. do any members out their have common specs, like wheel nut tourque? plug type number, etc? seems like someone in our website would have info on common questions.
  3. Hello all. Besides subaru's on line pay for info website, where can one get written (or cd) material on repair and maintance for a 2015 Forester? I can't even get a Haynes manual for the car. I can't even fine simple things like road wheel torque for bolts or anything....Thanks for any and all help.
  4. My head is spinning after reading everything, but I think I will go with Pennzoil Platinum (not the ultra) 0W-20. It is a group IV oil, and seems to have plenty of the additives to help lessen wear, etc for the new engines. Thanks to everyone for all the imput.
  5. Interesting. So if you go Pennzoil, are you going with the Platinum or Ultra Platinum?
  6. does anyone know for sure if Valvoline 0W-20 is a group III or IV group oil? and Keith, how do you feel about conversations on the web, of Pennzoil additives settling out of the oil to the bottom of the jug? Heard they tell you to shake the jug up before dumping in the engine, but then what happens with these additives settling out in the engine or oil pan? Comments??
  7. because I am new to subaru, which has the inverted oil filter on top of the motor....my question is, are there any particular steps to follow when refilling the oil in the car. In a conventional hung oil filter, I would always prefill the filter first, then screw it on. I suppose there is no way around starting the engine with a brand new DRY filter.....
  8. So it sounds like Valvoline 0W-20 is the way to go, and not to use 5-20 weight oil, Everyone more or less agree?
  9. i checked my owners manual, and it says to only use synthetic 0-20 oil. there is nothing in the manual under hard conditions to use any other weight. Any comments?
  10. Owners manual says 0W-20 for non turbo engine, like mine. There might be a listing to use 5W-20 under harder driving conditions, I will have to check. Does anyone have an opinion on the brand used? I see some use Castro, others Valvoline (little wear additives in their product), and most say not Mobil-1.
  11. I plan on keeping the car, and driving it into the ground, as I do all my vehicles. I saw mobil-1 has concerns for using oil consumption issues. I was going to try Valvoline synthetic, but I hear it does not have a lot of additives to prevent wear. Any thoughts? The penzoil platinum maybe an answer....
  12. Just bought a 2015 automatic, forester. I will be using 0-20w, but want to know what brands of oil people are using out there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
