i do wonder if this car was maintained well, the interior and exterior is mint but i got the impression this lady did not know much about cars and the oil sticker is really old, i got a really good deal on it and it will be no biggie to drop a new engine in it if needed and the tranny was done at the dealer 26000-30000 ago, i am wondering if it is still under warranty, ford warranties are 3year/36000, will have all the fluids checked good and changed if needed

bought a 99 legacy 2.2 with something ticking in the motor, i think ( with my limited experience ) that is sounds like a valve but the lady that sold it to me said the shop said it was a rod( but she wasn't sure) if it is a valve can i just have the top end redone on it, the motor has 106,000 , so would that be stupid? also this car is leaking oil somehwere i can smell it burning, anything that leaks oil on it that would make a ticking sound? i was also thinking of getting a new motor from ccr any other suggestions ot things to look for/check? thanks for your time

Ok I am wanting to buy a 94 to 96 subaru wagon. I do not know what the real difference is between a legacy and an outback and the forester just looks bigger to me. I want an automatic , I think with another 4cyl like I have in my 91 legacy(which I think is a 2.2?)I like that engine, plenty of pick up and good gas mileage.Presently getting 25 to 27 mpg with my full time 4wd, would like something comprable in gas mileage, do any of the 6cyl do that good? I need 4wd , does not have to be full time but that is ok. I want to put a lift kit on this thing, my only gripe about the subarus is not enough clearance. I need advice on which engines and trannys are available and which ones are most relaible. I do mostly highway driving with maybe 30% in town, every year I put between 30000 and 40000 miles on it. I am not stuck on any particular year or type , this is a work car I do not mind if it has a few dings or paint is not good, I want one that is mechanically sound, preferably with lower miles. I love my 91 legacy and want to make sure I get another one as good as this one. I do very little ice and snow driving mostly rough dirt roads, mud and driving through small rivers. and a lot of highway. Ok which car do you guys think will be the best for me? Does anyone have anything like this for sale in a 12 hour drive from me in Tucson, Az? Thanks, Courtney

I have a 91 legacy with full time 4wd automatic, please tell me which tranny number I will need for a replacement. Actually I would like to buy a wrecked one with a good tranny and steering rack if anyone has one for sale. I am located in Tucson,Az so it needs to be not to terribly far, like not more than 12 hour drive. Thanks in advance. Courtney

I have a 91 legacy with full time 4wd and an automatic, it has been feeling kind of "floaty" for the last few weeks in the front end, now it is off and on not moving when you push on the gas, no raise in the rpms it just does not move then it catches and shoots forward. If you are trying to make a turn it really shudders and shakes, once you get it going in a straight line it seems fine. My boyfriend is a toyota enthusiast and does a lot of rebuilding engines ,etc but he does not have a lot of experience with subarus especially their 4wd systems. He thinks the diff in the middle is not working correctly and that it is inside the tranny. This car has 213000 miles on it and we were thinking about getting a low mileage tranny from Japan but I do not want to do this now if i don't have to. Any possibility this diff can be fixed or adjusted or something? Or does anybody have some different opinions on what might be going on? Also I am looking for a mechanic that specializes in Subaru in Tucson,Az. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Courtney
