  1. So my loyale developed a weird problem. The passenger side front brake locks up some times. Not a full lock but enough to bring it to a stop. I replaced the pads and rotors thinking that was the problem but it still does it. Also I have a rubbing/grinding noise from that wheel before and after replacement and a clunking noise whenever I turn right and only when I turn right. Any help?

  2. To each their own on how to do it.  I did this job on my wagon while in my driveway with stands and a floor-jack.  I pulled the driveshaft, then the tranny.  First time took all day (8hrs) for removal and reinstall.  I didn't know how to carefully put in the new rear main seal or how critical it was.  I damaged the seal and had to do the job a second time which only took about 4hrs that time.  1) The seal is critical and 2) you can buy an inexpensive "clutch alignment tool" which helps a lot.  This was 20 years years ago and the same clutch and tranny are doing just great.  I wrote about this in a different post and others chimed in with a lot of helpful tips.  Good luck with the job.

did you do it without pulling the engine or trans completely from the car?

  3. It's not severe... Like I said it is intermittent, and doesn't do it when cold and seems to be affected by throttle input... I was just outside while on break at work showing a co worker and also noticed my timing belts seem to flex so to speak when the engine is running. I turned the engine off and can rotate the timing belts almost 180 degrees... I just replaced them a few hundred miles ago, but reused the tensioners... Could this be my issue? I've seen this on other cars where the tensioners were worn and caused problems

  4. another update... so after about a week of having trans fluid in my oil, with 20w50... the tick is gone but the clack remains... odd thing is it only does it after the car warms up... upon start up in the morning its non existent, but as it warms up it comes to life and clacks away, also it is intermittent under power, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet and varies with throttle pressure.... what gives?

  5. so got a quote for a clutch job today... 500 bucks!!! so ive decided im going to tackle this myself as i can get a kit for around a 100 bucks... question as this will be my first clutch job. ive seen and watched a lot of videos on how to do it, whats the time frame for a job like this and is anyone in the portland metro any that would like to take a noob through his first clutch change

  6. so i have a 93 loyale with 150k on the ticker... had TOD when i bought it at 144k so i replaced oil pump seals went away for a few thousand and came back. replaced the oil pump with one from the junk yard that i found within spec. upon start up after instal the noisy is no longer a tick but a clack now and coming from the drivers side mostly i think. i put sea foam, mmo, rislone, everything with no help. could i have a bad hla or what? i really dont wanna damage my engine and ive read all the threads here regarding TOD but i have oil pressure, no leaks, replaced front main seal, etc.... please help me save my ea82
