In a sense that is true, the amp draw will warm the battery. However draw is draw so I much prefer to put those amps right to the starting circuit. My 1991 Legacy was last driven sunday night, but I don't recall how cold it got. Last night, we hit -25 and at 2 PM today we were at -5 still. Looking at -25 again toinight. I've only had this car a short while, and I really dislike starting a motor for no reason. But I might fire her up tomorrow, early, just to see what she does. Not sure about how old the batter is, and it's too cold to check at the moment! It was SO cold here today, I saw a Lawyer walking down the street with his hands in his OWN pockets!

I don't change my own oil anymore, I generally snag a coupon when I see one and have it done. I'm curious if Subaru uses a magnetic plug in the oil drain?

Recently aquired my first Subaru, a 1991 Legacy wagon. Seems no matter how I try, I can't get the rear seat to fold. The owners manual(which is for a 1990) says to lift on the strap to raise the rear seat cusion. I can find no strap or release or whatever. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice to be able to load the back with a flat deck, as opposed to with merely the seat backs folded down. Any sugestions? Is the seat different between the 1990 and 1991 maybe?

Good instructions, Thanks! I'm with ya on the pickle fork thing, I used one years ago replacing tie-rod ends in a Ford F150 I owned. I borrowed the fork, but I still have the hammer! And I have access to a good shop to work in, provided I buy the owner enough beer and hot wings for "rent". This is my first Subaru, bought off ebay no less! Looking foward to driving and caring for it for some time yet.

Where might one buy one of these Full Service Manuals?

I need to replace the right ball joint on my 1991 Subaru Legacy wagon. You mechanical types are probably saying "So?", but please bear in mind that I'm a CARPENTER! With that in mind, any and all hints, suggestions, info on how difficult a job it is, ect would be MUCH appreciated!!!! It's not like I don't know how to run a wrench, but its not my strong suite. Any special tools? Anything that has to be adjusted? If I fix your porch will you change the ball joint for me???
