Squealing noise while rolling.
SubieSnax replied to SubieSnax's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGood to know. I did a little looking around and found that a few folks simply swapped the neutral safety switch on the transmission and that took care of the "jerk." Seems like a cheaper fix if it does in fact do so.

SubieSnax replied to SubieSnax's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks for the idea, Sooberoo. I'll look into the break pads first. Hopefully it's not the latter problem you had. I am curious though. Before you replaced your driveshaft were you experiencing a sort of jerkiness when letting off and putting on the accelerator? And not working the clutch? And if so, did replacing the driveshaft help with that problem?

Squealing noise while rolling.
Alright gang, I have another inquiry here. I recently replaced the power steering/alternator belt in my 99 legacy L because I heard some squealing. Then I was noticing that as I am driving in any gear, I can hear another squealing noise. I can hear it even while rolling in neutral, and it stops just before the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Changed the a/c belt just a few days ago and I am still hearing the squeal... It doesn't matter whether or not I'm blasting the system, or a/c. Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated. -Teddy G

Sorry it took so long to get back yall! I just remembered about this site lol. Anyways here is a pick of my 99 motor. So I was told, today actually, that instead of throwing a wrx engine in the 99, drop in a 2.5 block and use my 2.2 heads to get more hp. So I guess I will be able to use the 2.5 from the '02 Legacy and keep my heads from the '99? and will it really give me more hp? And, Numbchux, I hope you are right about my motor not crapping out haha.

Awesome thanks guys! I'll snap a pic when I have some daylight. I know they're both 2.2 and from what I remember they look almost identical.

Howdy y'all, I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I figured I'd ask the pros on here. I have a wrecked '02 Legacy L that has been sitting in the back yard since 2013. Even though it was wrecked it still started right up last time I tried it, tranny's good too. How difficult would it be to throw that thing into my 1999 Legacy L wagon? I'd rather throw a wrx motor in there, but I'm thinking I could use the motor out of the '02 Legacy as a backup for if/when my close to 200,000 mile motor craps out in the '99 Legacy. Any input is greatly appreciated. -Teddy G
