  2. Hi Guys, As always, full of (dumb) questions. If you were to describe the gear shifting of a Brumby in average condition, would you describe it more difficult to put into various gears than a more modern care in average condition. My Brumby is what I would call a little stiff when selecting gears, there's no crunch and I don't have any trouble finding the gears, it's just that the gear lever needs to be pushed into gear a little harder than I would have thought to get it into the gears? After your thoughts as to whether that's normal, I changed the gear oil and used the recommended SAE 80W-90 (used Penrite by memory) a couple of months ago with no change in "stiffness". The lever itself isn't stiff, like it move freely when not trying to engage gears (if you can understand that:)), just needs pressure to go into gear. Look forward to your experiences of what you would call average/normal for a 1986 with over 200,000 on the clock. Cheers, Barra

Hi Folks, When I push up and down on front of my Brumby, she bounces up and down easily a couple of times and then go firm all of a sudden, a little like pumping the brake pedal when there is air in the system. Does this mean the struts need to be bleed (are they serviceable) or are my struts in dire need of replacement? If they need to be serviced are there kits available or if they need replacing, what are the best replacements? So many questions, so little time, have a good day Folks, Barra

  7. Hi Folks, Looking at putting a weber carb (32/36) on my Brumby but prior to that I am looking at upgrading the exhaust to see if I can release any more power. I don't hat a catalytic converter, so any ideas on what set up I should run after the "Y" connection? I was thinking 2 inches, resonator and free-flow muffler? Cheers, Barra
  8. Hi Folks, I know the obvious answer is Brumby/Brat seats. Are there seats from any other models that just bolt straight in? This is my first post, be kind to me . Barra
  9. Hi Folks, I am the proud owner of a 1986 Subaru Brumby/Brat with it's original (I think) EA81. Since I purchased it I have replaced (with my own inexperienced hands): CV joints and front axles Front bearings and brake pads Tie rod ends and ball joints Rear muffler All brake hoses and some minor cosmetics. I love it, I have a 1976 VW Kombi in awesome condition but I would say i won't keep her more than another year, so the Brumby is my new toy to take my mind off getting rid of the Kombi.
