  1. Thank you AdventureSubaru, I hesitate to go much higher than stock cause I don't want to start messing around with the other suspension components and angles and performance etc... I like the way the rig drives now, just want that maybe up to an inch at most in the back for carrying a bit of a load and mainly for looks. I already have a jacked up Dodge truck with about 8 inches on it so I am good on that front. And I know from experience that once you start lifting, number one it's addictive, and number two, usually many other parts start taking a beating and need to, or should be replaced, also of course performance suffers due to the more of a roll from a higher COG. K well I will start looking into Youtube vids on this, you make it sound pretty easy, will I need a floor jack, or stands, or can I do it all from inside at the top of the strut? Sorry maybe a dumb question and I'm sure I'll find out here soon with my research... Thanks again for your input. Cy
  2. I've got more research to do Scott, Not looking to buy anything now. I literally have no idea what I would pay for them. I do know they are easy to make for free... And I am Hoping not to change the stock bolts at all at this point. If things change with my needs i will let you know. Thanks.
  3. Thank you AdventureSubaru, that's what I thought... Even saw a YouTube vid on the making of these cutting board spacers, but never heard if they actually were installed or worked with the original length bolts. Glad to hear it can happen. Was the 3/8th height difference enough to see, and worth it in your opinion?
  4. Thank you Scott, Looks like a great product but Way more than I want to spend on a simple thing like this. I lived in Bham for 12 years through the 80's and early 90's on the south side in Fairhaven. Still got lots a friends there and hope to visit again soon. Thanks for the offer! Cy
  5. Hi friends, I would like to create a slight rake in the appearance of my 93 L wagon. I do not want a "Lift" just a bit more height back there. For looks mainly... From what I've read 3/8th inch strut spacers are my best bet, causing minimal suspension change and ease of installation. I have some questions as I've heard conflicting info... First will I need longer bolts for this size spacer or will the stock ones work, or can I create a counter sink for the nuts? Is this an easy project for the DIY? Also I can find no info here on the old Coil spacer option, yes the cheap, used to be called knuckle spacers I inserted in my Impala springs when I was a kid to jack the back up a bit. Anyone ever do that to a Subaru? I realize its a very cheap and possibly sketchy option but I'm really not looking to change much back there... Thanks Cy
  6. Thank You, this is what I was hoping to hear as far as an install goes. I just don't know if I want to spend the time or the hassle for this particular project. Plus I don't mind admitting that electricity is not my forte when it comes to wrenching... I don't mind spending the dough to have a pro do it right, but I really wasn't sure what it may cost. I will check with my local car audio shops.
  7. Thanks Heartless, good to know there is hope if I decide to install myself. I will look into the crutchfield site for sure if I go this route. And great to hear a specific option, Sony X-plode, did this system fit into your red L wagon, I think it was, without many problems? I believe we have similar year and make rigs.
  8. Hi friends, After hella searching and link following I am coming to the conclusion that trying to install a simple new radio/CD and ipod/phone capable stereo is gonna be a nightmare. At least for me... I just want a new head unit, and new speakers in the same spots as the stock ones. I have no need for massive amps or what not. So...Anyone else here just throw in the towel and have like a Cartoys or Performance Auto Sound, where I live, install one? Is it expensive? Should I just get a system from Walmart and fight through it? And lastly anyone have a good basic brand and model that is on the less expensive side, that will fit my 93 L wagon? I am not a music system snob, I just want something that works... Any helpful experiences, stories or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Cy
  9. Excellent! It's a Subaru bro...I'm sure you will be happy with an Outback!
  10. I recently bought a 93 Legacy L wagon. I already have a big raised Dodge Ram for anything rugged to do, and I wanted an AWD rig for longer road trips that still can maneuver in snow, rain and some mud, but mainly could perform well on the road and be efficient. Remember that when the Legacy came out there were no Outbacks, so the rig had to perform as is, and did, as the outbacks do now. Someday I may get an outback but the newer ones are starting to really look clunky and seem to be turning into way more of a bigger SUV rather than a wagon. With what my older Legacy can still do under adverse conditions, and how well it performs on the highway, right now it is the choice for me. My advice would be to get an older Outback that still has some wagon/car qualities and keep your jeep for the off road stuff. I've had two jeeps in the past and they are the best for the adventure driving In my opinion. Have fun!!
  11. Cool heartless! Thanks for offering, if you are swapping tires I would love to see what you find out but no need to do it just for this. I am pretty sure that since I will be running the stock 14" wheel size, that the 205/70/14 or the 195/75 will work under my stock 93 just fine. Eventually I may want to go to a 15" wheel, then I will have to figure all of this out again, plus all the suspension mods, but for now I am gonna keep it simple and stock as far as wheel size goes. Call me old fashioned, but I like more rubber under my rigs rather than wheel. I have time before I buy, planning sometime within about a month. It has taken quite a while just to figure out the size I want (with all the help from you and Matt 167!) let alone now I gotta figure out the best brand! LOL Have fun bro, thanks!
  12. Cool Heartless, thank you. I will for sure have a bit of speedometer change but that's OK. Good info on the sizing, since I will be running with 14 inch wheels, those sizes should work fine for me.
  13. Very good Matt. 195/75 or 205/70 it is! Either is good for me. I'll see whats available... Thank you sir! Cy
  14. Hey Thank you very much Matt! Without modifying the suspension, I want to get the biggest tire under there as possible without causing any rubbing or performance issues. Knowing the 195/70's will fit is huge! I really don't want to go much wider at this point than a 205. I've felt back there and there is not much room behind the back sidewall. I will actually measure though.. If anything, I would like to go taller however, so I am considering a 195/80 or a 205/70? Without you having to look anything up again, can I ask your professional thought on those two options? Again, Thank you. I appreciate your time helping to educate me on this... Cy
