  1. The electrical switches on my 92 Loyale door jams have deteriorated, driver side had to remove boot and old messy tar and scrub down to bare part. Subaru dealer said part no longer available and I don't want to use old junk. Found utube vids about replacement switch that may or may not fit where fella said to just unscrew the sole screw and pull out to disconnect. I can unscrew single phippips on mine and wiggle out switch but when I pull it out it stops before any connector shows up. Afraid to force it Can this Loyale switch be removed from outside by pulling out to expose connector? I guess maybe more important is I need to find a source for a replacement. Mine was similar to one on utube but not a match. Anyone found a source for replacement switches? I was hoping that maybe that part was used over various makes and I might find a new one (and replace them all) that matches. thanks!
  2. Getting ready to do valve cover gaskets and need to replace original PVC hoses. Searching online I found a part number for a "Y-block PVC hose assembly" for other later models of Subaru available online. Anyone aware of this being available as part source for 1992 Loyale - browsed but could not find that part number. If not available and I would buy PVC line, what size is it? I already have new PVC valve in hand. thanks!
  3. Thanks for replies. I am going to do valve cover gaskets and see what happens on remaining leaks. I don't do more complex wrenching on my cars anymore and that oil pump seal would be picked up by shop if I decide to replace the timing belt. To check valve covers job out I pulled the PCV hose and it cracked. No surprise given age so I bought new pvc valve and found part number for a "Y-block PVC hose assembly" for later models of Subaru available online. Anyone aware of this part source for 1992 Loyale - browsed but could not find that.
  4. Was not sure whether to start new thread or hijack this one.. My 1992 Loyale (original owner) is rarely used as 4WD or backup car that runs great with 210k miles. It has had some significant oil leaks that I use a drip pan for but want to reduce the major ones on each end of engine which look to be from valve cover gaskets. I don’t want to chase one near center of engine that will be more costly than I want for this car (probably oil pump and other seals). I bought felpro gasket set and while I have the valve covers off I am wondering if I should retorque the heads while I am in there - or since it has 210k better to just leave alone? I guess heads are also prone to eventually leak (never had internal leak– not positive that they do not have some outward oil seeping also) and wonder if this would help or hurt given age of still original head gasket. Also I noticed Chilton said to use Prermatex #2 on rocker cover. I already have some RTC silicone on my bench. Would that also work or given the type of gasket and low torque of the cover bolts should another type of sealant be used on the gasket? Thanks!
