    I assume I'm not in a popular enough (as in i wouldn't have much reach or exposure compared with others) market or geography. Not enough bang for buck in SE Utah; what, with Subaru's homeland just next-door, so to speak. ;)

    I removed the Lousy H3 Bulbs that came with the Lamps,

     

    To place the Great quality ones instead.

     

    Take a Look of this comparison photo of both together

    A friend wonders how the Flösser bulbs will compare to Narva Roangepower +50 bulbs.  It is clear the Flösser  is far superior to a cheap and generic bulb (likely what came in the lamps).

  4. so, what came out was a 24/24 and a 22/24

    and you assembled new CVs and replaced them with 24/24 and equal thickness but still 22/24?

    I noticed the different lengths (typical outside the balanced SUbaru world ;)

     

    So when you buy CV axles, you hae to assemble the and pack them with greese, every time, or do you elect for the "some assembly required" axles?

    So, you found a good/valid substitute and have it back together?

    that's great.

  5. Despite that one side's C.V. Joint had an inner spline count of 22 with thinner diameter, and the other C.V. Joint had an inner spline count of 24 with thicker diameter; Both C.V. Joints has the Same size and Spline Count on their Outer shaft, that goes to the wheel hub.

     

    That is the Reason why I only needed the 24 / 24 Bar to solve the problem of having different C.V. Joints on each wheel, in order to use the same C.V. Joint on Both sides.

    OOh the difference is on the transission side?? THat's a different story. Do you think soeone got inside the transmission and swapped a part, or the Kia is just that asymetrical in its fron CVs?

    I need to mark this info somewhere, I've always wondered about your bright bulbs AND i need some bulbs for my KC fog lamps.

    Doesn't your Bumble Beast have HIDs too?

  7. that sounds cool but what id love to do is go to i70 in colorado and take the old mining passes down to silverton and ouray. i finally have the rigs to do it too. while moab is close and would def be cool i just dont have time for an out of state run with our first kid on the way next month.

    ive been dying to do this mining run since i lived down in durango.

    copy that!!! I haven't had my legacy up that way yet but really want to get those trails done. A friend took his 4th gen OB up there this suer and here's a brief report, "I have 9-9.1 to skids and 9.5-9.6 to exhaust tubes and about 11.25 to rocker panel. I never hit anywhere, but I needed all of the former on a large rock at Cinnamon and all of the rocker panel clearance on the last, going down, rocky spot on the short section after Cinnamon meets Engineer and before the road splits with straight going to Silverton and a sharp right descending to the wooden bridge in Animas Forks.

     

    The San Juans are totally awesome + provide relief from AZ summers, which we cannot get in southern Utah. Hope to be back...Engineer (minus that optional entry point from 550) is on the agenda, Imogene--maybe."

     

    at just about 3 hours from Durango, Moab is pretty close to ya.

    I've thought about trying to get interest in a Moabaroo run, then I had kids and stuff happenes, etc. etc and so on.... I just stubled across this thread and was wondering if you guys ever made a Moab-Subaru run happen.

     

    You're rigs WAAAYY outclass my roo, but it would still be great to make a subaru run here in Moab a reality. different levels of capability from dirt roads to full-on pritchet canyon/metal masher/steel bender stuff or a moab rim group, etc. (like jeep safari but lower key and roos).

     

    I have a strut-lifted 95 legacy running 4.11s and an AUDM DR AWD 5-speed with CLSD rear end. It's a DD and kid-hauler but i've pulled off the white rim (pavement to pavement) in under 5 hours, La Sal Pass rd (since they've stopped maintaining it in 2011ish) and Lockhart basin north to south in it. Its more of a moderate trails rig with hand-picked difficult trails-capable, but for a FT AWD DD, it's not too shabby.

     

    So there's that level, then your fully lifted, locked, welded wheeler roos level and the pavement to Geyser Pass rd.. roo levels we could coordinate for a Moabaroo run.

     

    is there interest, aybe a spring run after jeep week, or before easter safari? Fall is better so maybe start planning a year out?

     

    what chyall think? is it a possibility?

  9. My hats off to John, 10 years ago it was because of some of his work and others that I got

    into offroading and lifting Subarus, he has done some innovative things over the years,

    I applaud him for being one off the pioneers in our community , that being said Im sorry to

    hear he hasn't been that great of a Bussiness man , hope he settles up some day, one car

    that had great inspiration for me was Turbones old Lifted T-cased Hatch camo painted, think

    it went to General Disorder in OR, not sure, he was one of the first in our area to put a EJ

    in a EA and make the adapter .

     

    I'll back Scott here.  For all the flame everyone is willing to dish out, I'll step forward and support Scott in some positive dishing on John. 

    I thank John for his pioneering and love of Roos and their capabilities, even stretching those capabilities.  Honestly if it weren't for John I probably wouldn't have gone as far nor been able to contribute as much through my later learning and experiences.  I've always modified things but John helped direct that pattern down the off-roading direction for this car.  I was originally just looking for a light bar and knew nothing about Subarus back in 2003, except that they're good in snow.  He talked me into a baja bumper and I really haven't looked back.  I've put 120K miles on my lifted roo, roughly 110K with the baja bumper!

    I may be one of the few, if not only, one of his customers who will stand up and talk positives about the guy.  I met Turbone for a second back in '04 when he had the camo hatch, and thanks for starting some support for John here Scott.  Sure John's had some ups and downs and sucks as a businessman, but I believe his heart is in the right place and he's pioneered a bunch of stuff for this off-roading Subaru community, both old gen and new.  He, like many people, can't say "no" when perhaps he should, regarding taking on too much work and too many projects, but he's always been good to me and even let me crash at his place and fed me while I was passing through getting my wife in Portland the next day.

     

    I certainly feel for the people who were unjustly treated by John and they were burned pretty badly without recourse; it sucks to have to think one needs to resort to legal action (as some have) for essentially gentleman's agreements.  I really hope everyone gets resolution and in the end the right thing works out for each and every one wronged.  John, as I understand, has always put his family first and he's been in rough times financially and trying to provide for the fam, but I hope that he will and does make things right. 

     

    I haven't been able to reach him lately via email, PMing where I know he's active or even texts. . . .

    I think he does good work and with persistence and presence I think its worth pursuing his products, but time and distance can be great enemies when working or dealing with the business side of Mudrat fabrications.

  10. Whoa JesZek!!! That's some serious internal damage! Where did you get this Kia again? I am happy you were able to find parts for it locally! I wa suprised to read you could get used parts locally from a junkyard though. I understood you'd said used cars are stripped and sold overseas as such you can't get used parts in Honduras, like a used dul range subaru transmission. ;)
    But, there might be the vehicle's age thing. I do know that people keep their cars running for a very long time and do about anything to keep them going. Is it that your kia is new enough you can get used parts locally. i know Erik was exporting used Aerucan cars to Honduras but they had to be relatively new, i think 5-8 years maybe. Trucks could be older but cars had to be relaively new.

    At any rate, i am glad to see your expertiese has saved you here and you were able to get it back together and running well. You are a very talented man, my friend, and your skills in so many endeavors will serve you well!!
