  1. I have an 02 legacy and the check engine light keeps coming on (steady light). I understand that a steady light means a minor problem where a flashing light is major, but I keep taking it back to the dealer anyway. They first told me it was my fault for not tighting the gas cap. They reset the light and sent me on my way. A few weeks later it happened again, and I know the cap was tight. I took it back. They pulled the trouble codes and told me it was a code for a leak in the evap sysyem (gas tank), tightened the cap, reset the light, and shipped me off. It happened again, but this time is was the next day and the last person to tighten the cap was the dealer service center! I took it back and told them that. They called subaru's main service with the problem and they told them to replace and tighten a clamp on the evap system (I don't know where). It lasted 3 weeks and the light is back on. Any subaru mechanics or real savvy owners out there with some suggestions? The light is driving me nuts.
