  1. Hi all,

2013 Impreza with 154k. Car drives fine, gets about 29 mph on average. However, it occasionally has a problem on hot days (or it seems like it's hot days), where the car starts and then dies immediately after. Feels like it's not getting gas. In fact, if I immediately tap the accelerator, it doesn't have a problem. I cleaned the air flow sensor, changed air filters, and even sprayed out that secondary filter that is right after the engine air filter (seemed fine, just wanted to cover my bases. Checked clamps on air supply for tightness...all fine. I'm going to change the fuel pump relay. Engine isn't throwing any codes. Any other things to check before I resort to the fuel pump or the coils?

  2. Hi all,

Out of nowhere, on my 2013 Subaru Impreza, my AT Oil Temp light went on (blinking yellow), Check Engine Temp went on (solid), hill stability went on (solid), traction control went on (solid), and cruise control went on (blinking). The car drives perfectly fine. No trouble transitioning gears when speeding up, no idling problems, nothing. I'm going to take it to the dealer tomorrow, but I thought I would throw it out to the forum to see if there might be something simple to check. I am waiting for the car to cool down to check the trans fluid level, but I don't think that's it. Specs on car: 153,000 k miles with original CVT, change oil regularly every 6 k (synthetic, so probably overkill, but I know the value of good oil), had half the engine replaced on warranty last year, most mileage is highway (I have a 60 mile commute to work, all highway).

    Thanks!

  3. Hi all,

So I replaced my AC compressor clutch and coil about four months ago. The AC works great and blasts cold air. However, ever since I did the maintenance, I've been getting a grinding sound coming from the pulley whenever the AC is on. You can view a video of it

Any clue what this is? I took it apart and put it back together again...made sure all of the clips were in the right place. The gap is correct and there is no sound when the AC is not engaged (see the video).

    Thanks all!

  4. So now I've got a new problem with the AC, probably related to this AC clutch...I really ran the AC for the first time a few days ago after doing a clutch and coil replacement. The low side pressure was a bit low, so I topped it off using an off-the-shelf recharge can. It's engaging and blowing glorious cold air. However, it's also making a fairly loud grinding sound whenever the clutch is engaged. It's audible enough that I hear it from under the hood when I stop the car. It wasn't doing this when I first changed the clutch and coil, and it ran fine for at least a couple of hours. I only noticed it after about ~4 hours of run time.

Like I said...it's running fine. But my intuition tells me that this sounds is indicating some pending trouble. Any clue what it is? It's not a metal grinding sound. More like a card shuffling sound.

  5. Hi all,

Simple question...where is the compressor clutch relay on a 2013 subaru impreza??? The manual only has a fuse diagram. I found this...http://www.justanswer.com/subaru/66lok-2012-subaru-outback-2-5i-premium-disable-drl.html, but it's for an Outback (probably the same) and it doesn't show the location of the AC relay.

    Thanks!

  6. Hi all,

I've definitely got a bad ac compressor clutch on my 2013 Subaru Impreza. The thing is scraping metal when I turn it and I think I hear something rattling inside. Trouble is...I can seem to find a clutch / pulley replacement assembly, or even a clutch replacement. Certainly, I can find the whole compressor...but I don't want to spend that much money! Any advice? Also, is this a really complicated job? If I just buy the whole assembly, it looks like I just unscrew the old one and pop on the new one. If I have to just buy the clutch replacement, it looks like I'll have push out the old clutch with some bolts, and then push in the new one with another bolt.

    Thanks!

  7. Hi all,

I was hoping that someone could help me diagnose my A/C problem. First...the problem is that there is no cold air, even when turned to max. The compressor clutch is not engaging. Both the high and low pressure port is reading extremely high. I can jump the clutch from the battery to see if its a clutch problem, but I wasn't sure if this would damage the compressor (given that the pressure is reading so high). Can someone help me to diagnose the problem? It's a Subaru Impreza, 2013, with 50 k.

    Thanks!

  8. Hi all,

2013 Subaru Impreza with 44 k; bought used at 32 k. Love the ride, but it has recently started to give me a starter problem. Sometimes it will start right up and sometimes it will take a few cranks. One time, it recently took about 10 cranks before the thing fired up (I just held the key in the ignition position). But then the next time I went to start the car, it started right up. The problem has gotten worse with cold weather.

Starter solenoid or starter motor? I'm guessing that there is a dead spot, but I'm pretty inexperienced with Subarus. If it is the starter, does anyone have any advice on how easy / terrible it is to dig the starter out of the car? I wish the thing fell under the powertrain warranty, but it doesn't...

    Thanks!

    Aaron
