  1. I did that. Ran three different pcv valves to the intake. Drives about half a mile and starts smoking. Just not as bad as before. Still not driveable.
  2. I hooked up the pcv from the back of the block to the intake, still smokes. But if I disconnect the hoses from the valve covers to the air breather, smoking stops. I'm thinking this 2.0 breathes differently than my 2005 2.5L. The only difference I saw was the 1 inch pipe at back top of block, whereas the 2.5 has a pcv valve.
  3. Engine seems to run okay in the driveway. It's quiet, cool, but smokes like a mosquito truck. Removed breather, oil in throttle body. Oil sucking into intake. On 2.0 engine, outlet on block, right in front of tc bolt access is a roughly 1 inch diameter pipe, 2.5 has screw in fitting. Blocked both ends, still smokes.
  4. The 2.0 I was sent does not use an oil cooler. Does all that need to be swapped over (water pump, pipes and hoses, cooler and block fitting)?

  6. The 2.0 does not use an oil cooler. Is it okay to run it like that, or should I change the water pump, pipes, oil cooler, and fitting in block?

  8. With gas analyzer, no gas till right before fans come on, then it spews coolant out like a volcano and overheats. This time, I installed head gaskets from Subaru and used Amsoil. Same thing. Would a JDM 2.0 with EGR simply bolt in with intake, sensors, timing sprockets. I'm willing to accept 15 hp loss. My budget is very tight, and I found one for $600 delivered.

  11. Installed original crank and camshaft sensors, runs good, but overheats. With cooling system pressure tester, pessure rises with higher rpm's. Used fel pro blue gaskets, but on LH siide I experienced creaking when tightening bolts. Bought Federal Mogul assembly lube and experienced no creaking on RH side. Is tightening an option, or replacement? Heads were rebuilt.
  12. Changed just the short block. Had the heads rebuilt. New timing set and water pump, hoses, gaskets, fluids and filters. Re-checked all vacuum hoses, wiring connections. All sensors are connected. No code reader here right now. Plenty of fuel, no spark.
  13. 05 Forester. After an engine rebuild, I have a no start condition. Checked all wires and fuses. All sensors are connected. Plenty of fuel, no spark. Is there a reset procedure?
  14. Swapped the struts plus,no problem. Exhaust system worked with original 02"s. Swapped short block, payed close attention to detail, I believe, took my sweet time. Now won't start.Turns over great. Can't hear the fuel pump. Re-checked all the wiring and fuses. Wheels are still in the air. Besides blown head gasket, everything worked fine before engine pull. No security light at instrument cluster. Is there a reset procedure?
