  1. Hey gang, I found a new windshield rubber seal online for sale (part number: 65046GA050), which says it's for an 1985 XT model. I need a replacement one for my 1985 GL (part number: 65046GA060), but those appear to be discontinued EVERYWHERE I look.

My question is, are they the same part (just a different number because their for different vehicles, but may be the same windshield design)?

When I compare the data tables between BOTH models, they both share the same part number series...........so they look to be the same thing?

I don't know anything about the XT, anyone care to confirm if the windshields are the same with the GL's?

Note: It shows both vehicle types share the 65045 series (part 5 on the XT, part 10 on the GL).

  2. Heys guys,

I've been playing around with my 3D printer and found a file online that someone made as a direct replacement for the original center hub wheel rings (part that hold the center cover into place).

Mine are plastic, and work great! With it being nearly impossible to find any OEM ones still usable, these are a great replacement.

If someone needs a set of 4 printed up, PM me.

Then it either isn't a wagon, or it isn't a 1600, or it's not an original engine. Subaru DID NOT produce a 1600 wagon in 1985 (for the US market). The only 85 model available with a 1600 was the STD Hatchback (2-door)...... which I don't believe was available with an automatic - 4 speed FWD or 4 speed single range 4WD only.

Lets see some pics and we can ID this unit for you.

I will post pictures today, sorry for the delay. It's mom's car, but I try to keep it going as long as I can.

I have replaced the front and rear bumpers to Loyale versions, as well as the front parking/marking lenses.

So it may look like a Loyale, but it is an 85.

  4. My mother in-law's blue roo's turn signal arm assembly by the wheel stopped working finally, after barely limping along for years. Sometimes it would work, most times it would not. So it looks like either the wiring inside or the contacts themselves are restricted and/or the mechanism itself finally broke completely. I a little apprehensive about tearing into the shell assembly to check it out, let alone trying to repair the arm assembly.

But just in case it is completely shot, does anyone have a good replacement part (OEM or aftermarket) they could suggest? I'm not sure if the 1985 year is a stand alone, or if other GL's of later years shared the same one.

    Any suggestions?

  5. Comet is just a nickname I got from early message boards from years ago, nope....don't own the car itself.

So I picked up everything i think I'm going to need now to give this a try, the motors showed up yesterday as did the relay (both parts).

As for the switches, i got 4 sets of them as spares, and all of them are as clean as when they were new....lol.

  6. I am completely new to trying this, so any help is appreciated. I just ordered all 4 new/remanufactured window motors and the Bosch relay noted above for my 85 GL wagon. Do I need the socket part as well?

If so, got a good reference link or part number for it?

I only need one relay, right?

Also, a brief rundown of all points to apply grease would be great.  And lastly, any removal instructions or tips on getting the window assembly out of the door would help too. Thanks.

  7. OK, the vinyl arrived yesterday. Yes, 1/8" thick foam marine grade vinyl is the exact duplicate material you want to get that OEM look.

I am on the process of removing the old vinyl off the plastic pieces and cleaning off all the contaminants (glue, foam, oils, etc.). I will post more pics as the progress moves along.

Pic is of plastic all cleaned up.

  8. I will be doing this on a Loyale, but have a question.

I plan on using marine vinyl, but see it comes in 3 different styles.

    1) vinyl, fabric backing

    2) vinyl, foam 1/8" thick backing

    3) vinyl, foam 1/4" thick backing

I'm thinking option #2 is the one I want, just asking to see if any of you have done this and which would be better?
