  1. [quote name=s. Heh' date=' being a vain, single, 24 year old male who works full time and has little to waste his money on (no girlfriend)... I'd consider this a perfect car for me [You won't be needing the tinted windows, then. That's the cleanest chrome free engine bay i've ever seen. Post again in a year's time. I wish I could find a peach like that. I did but my sister bought it. Most in the UK are pretty knackered and stink of wet dogs. Here's a tip-If your car stinks of wet dogs, put a washing up bowl of fresh lawn clippings on the back seat. Replace each week for a month. MMMMM- 1st cut fresh. Nothing else works.
  2. Avoid like the plague! HG at 70k and been standing around a while? Good subies are hard to find anywhere-why sell?-but they do turn up eventually.Check out SIPHON's new ride,on thi page. Just about the same price, same state. Has this beauty been sitting around a while,or had new HG's? I should coco. This dog sounds like the one TUXCAT will be selling to some unsuspecting mug in a few weeks time!Wait for a good one.
  3. Change your tag for the short term. Check for rust and crud behind the rims, and tighten those lug nuts up again.
  4. [ simple like a sherman yes ....handles like a rally car.........!!! you have never been in a rally car have you........? The Forester is rolly polly !! my outback out handles any forester! get some pbr metal masters brakes .......you'll stop !!![/ Are we talking about the same car? Looks like engines aren't the only difference between UK and US foresters.UK models are taut, responsive, and a blast to drive,if a tad underpowered. But extra horses are easy,eh? We get the fun and you get the donut wagon. Why do subaru need 2 in their range?
  5. CRAP!!! Higher gas prices do not stop those that can afford them from buying SUVs. GREAT Britain has amongst the highest gas prices in the world, at $8 a gallon but SUVs are the fastest growing market sector despite 8-10mpg. Why? It doesn't snow here-we had a couple of inches 2 weeks ago and it was gone by lunchtime. The country ground to a halt, and it made the news for a week! Time was, you needed a land rover to get through the mud. Now we have drought warnings in march. That reminds me-will aircon work with that giant forester sunroof open? Will it keep my tootsies cool?
  6. What have i started here? At $8 a gallon you've gotta have a good reason to drive a subaru-23mpg!!!! just about the worst economy car in europe, aside from landcruiser, range rover gas gourmandising. I'm used to a citroen diesel doing 50 mpg+,but i'd still prefer the forester. Why? Built like a sherman, handles like a rally car, will start, won't stop!Crap mileage is a fair tradeoff for all the benefits a subie brings. After all,a 30 year old engine and 4wd are never going to be cheap.Go get an Audi diesel! $4.33 in taxes doesn't make any difference to what people drive. round here[south london suburbs],range rovers and volvo xc 90's are the wheels of delight. At 10mpg for either, you've gotta be pretty hard nosed to drive one,let alone rico.
  7. It's not the o2 sensor. That has no effect when cold, hence cannot be the cause of not starting. The o2 sensor seems to get blamed for a whole load of ************ round here, but that only means we're kinda dumb as well as subie dealers!
  8. Insane? What'sa gallon of gas cost over there? Not $8 a gallon,i'll wager!
  9. Help please. My Forester 2.0 turbo auto has a minor but annoying problem. When decelerating through 45-40 mph[1500 revs] in drive,it stutters for a second or two. Then it's ok again. This only happens after about 5 mins driving, whether from hot or cold. The MAF and o2 sensors have been replaced at subie dealer to cure a nasty acceleration delay, and this has only been noticeable since the MAF was changed, but could have been there before. The exhaust indicates the engine is running rich, but an emissions test shows that under no load the mixture is peachy. I don't know if it's significant, but the fuel tank does not seem to be venting correctly.when refilling, there is a whoosh of air when undoing the fuel cap,but if removed 5 mins after stopping then no whoosh. Could the fuel return/breather pipes be blocked, forcing gobs of fuel into the engine on overrun, or could some other part of the fuelling system be amiss? hope someone can help!
  10. My 99 forester turbo auto gets 23mpg[imperial], or 250 miles per tank. funny,it makes no difference if i have a lead or feather foot.
