  1. it's not HONDAS SUCK it's HONDASUCKS lol I was way against Hondas when I joined the board, and now I'm just anti-rice (and before you get all hostile, go to www.anti-rice.com and look @ some of da cars on there...) but kept the name cuz it's ME :D

I've been there.. I HATE RICE ALSO! I've been tuning IMPORTS since 93' & there's nothing I hate more than RICEBOYS! Thinking big nasty wings & stickers produce power. Not hostile.. just trying to figure out WTF!:headbang:

  2. Ahhh Ummm.. .. Plug It IN, maybe!

    BTW...HONDAS SUCK??? please!

*All do respect to my 99' Scoob Leggy*, which I have mad respect for cuz she transports my 3 favorite girls (Wife n 2 Daughters), joyfully & safetly where ever they go, in style!

Buh Buh Bu Bu But, my B18c5 Type-R power'd 91' CRX Si, would run laps around her backwards rollin on pizza-cutters on ice with 2 drunken fat native chics rollin shotgun, without any kinda of piston slap!!! (which I'm not a fan of!!!) :-p

  3. I hear that! I'm a Honda nut myself. But I'm sticking with my soob. My hondas couldn't stand up to my driving. electrical and plumbing is sound on hondas. But I have never had a subaru boxer engine smoke, and I run my cars a little hard from time to time. But my current subaru I'm actually taking care of :) It's a toss up really in my opinion. They both in the end seem to come up about equal.

    X..

Being a Honda owner.. you could imagine how I felt the next morning after buying this car and starting it after its been parked out in -10 weather then starting it!

HOLY @!#$%^&*!!!! I almost freak the *bleep* out when I heard this thing turn DIESEL on me.. then I read up on Piston Slap.. then she warmed and stopped!

She sounded like a B16 with really bad valve problems. Or even a bad bearing.. I'll keep her tho.. I like a challenge!!

I LOVE MY HONDA! and my SUBARU's not too bad either!

  4. My bf just picked one up. As in last Saturday. Already busted something...I swear him and hondas do not mix, as he has an 88 Civic hatch too and apparently he's currently gone thru timing chain #3 on it (second motor from an 89 crx si I believe, this is chain #2 for this one, did i mention he's only had the civic itself since about july/august?) not to mention 3 or 4 ignition modules and a couple coils...and when I had it I had NO problems with it lol

HONDA GODS PLEASE HELP HIM, not go thru another timing belt!

Some people just shouldn't ever ever ever.. Open the hood on a HONDA!

Atleast he's a DIY'er (not a very good one) But thats cool that he gets grimmy with his own cars. Pat em on tha back and get 'em a Beer! Sounds like you got a good BF.

  5. Don't just focus on HP numbers and you might make a little more progress. Legacy's are frickin HEAVY! Drop some of that dead weight.

No SH*T! LOSE WEIGHT! Lose the chubby girlfriend & hit the stair master, Lose the A/C, Lose the back seat, Lose these sunroof, carpet, tint & windows, door caps, dash, stereo & those heavy rump roast rims, get carbon fiber hood, doors, lighter seats, steering wheel, and you still only have 160hp in a GT 2.5L! Power to Weight! YAY!

    OR

    Get a stripped 91' CRX w/ a b18c5 built! Only about 245hp but only 1800lbs.

    OR

Remember why you've bought a Subaru! Comfort? AWD? Back Seat? On a Budget?

No my friends... PIMPING is not easy!

  6. Ever run 17's or 18's on a 95-99 Legacy???

If so what offset can we use on them???

I'm throwing either some 17's with some 215/45/17's or 18's with 215/35/18's... But I need to figure out the correct offset!

Also.. I need some springs & struts. I heard H&R's go the lowest with a 1.7 drop. Any idea on a decent place to cop some?

Below are the three I'm plannin on running.. All 5Zigen's All JDM!:slobber:

    Thanks!

  7. I'm a Heavy Diesel Fleet Technician ( a Glorified name for a Mechanic =) ) @ a Gold Mine in Alaska. I drive some very high HP rigs on test spins.. like a Cat 789 1750+ HP Dump Truck as big as a 3 story house. Its hard to say with a straight face.. But my 99' Subby Leg 2.2L has more balls than that thing.. Grant it I can't haul 155 tons.. but I can run laps around that thing while its in motion.

    I've also built many Honda's b16a&b's ,b17a,b18c&c5's & last but not least h22's! I Love Hondas!

But I'm starting to fall inlove with our SUBBY! She's great.. she's just badass lil 4 dr who's always ready to go and drift around empty snowed over parking lots @ below zero temps & manage to stay warm. She's always a happy lil ride.. compared to my moody Honda's who could give a damn about drifting anywhere or being out in 20 degree weather or even warm up the cab. Bastards.

    And thats my $.02!!

  8. Just bought some Napa "Belden Max" spark plug wires for my 99 OBW (2.5L) part number 700031. They look like the right ones but when I checked their resistance...they were all ~ 3.5k ohms. According to my book they should all be between ~4.9k-11.5k ohms (#4 being ~5.2k-12.3k ohms). I checked the Napa online site to see if maybe they gave me the wrong part number but it matches the 700031 Belden number. I checked my ohm readings with two meters (a Fluke and a Blue Point) and they come up the same. Is it ok to use these or should I get another brand? What brand? Thanks.

Try NGK wires.. I'm in the process of scoring some. Post up what you've found & where you found them. I figure NGK makes good plugs.. why not wires?

  9. Okay--I may be a dork, but what the heck does an air filter have to do with the sound your car makes?

    nah.. not a dork.

The more non-resticted the air flow to the throttle body is the more of a deeper tone it gives off when the motor is sucking air under throttle. Nothing really special. I've always done an aftermarket intake system for the tiny power benefits tho... not the sound. But it does make it sound a lil beefier.

  10. ive never in my life changed plug wires before

how much would a set of 4 cost, and how hard are they to change, is there anything very strange about them compared to changing plugs

can you do it all at once or does it double the time

A set at NAPA costs about $50!

EASY to change.. nothing special to it.. except you feel or here a lil' tiny pop when it seats on the plug.

yeah you can do it all at once and it'll add about 3 minutes to the entire PLUG CHANGE!

GET AFTER IT BRO! Hope it helps!

  11. BALLITCH is right!

Same thing was going on with my 99' 2.2L Legacy!

NGK Laser Platinum Plugs, new wires, fuel filter, 5w 30 AMSOIL w/ filter... Solved the problem & gave her balls!

I think the "bucking" problem was cuz of the FUEL FILTER &/OR PLUG WIRES! Wires were rusty & I noticed on my plug contact points there was an irregular arce looking contact spot!

  12. It came from lowering more then likely.

I was going to install camber bolts in the rear when I first lowered it, but I really didn't need to. The guy at the alignment place, loosened the strut bolts, wiggled it around to where I wanted, and then tightened them back down.

Right now, I have the whiteline adjustable lateral links, so I pretty much have an infinite amount of camber/toe settings for the rear.

Sup Man?? I meant to ask where'd you get your Lowered Springs??? I'm having a good time finding some!

Also I noticed you were from H-Town.. I'm from the SW Alief area! But live in Alaska for now.

  13. Yeah, you love it now ... just wait 'til the parking lights won't turn off ... then you'll be back here on the board crying H-E-L-P-!

No *BLEEP*.. You'd be AMAZED how many of us actually READ the manual! It was buggin the hell outta me cuz I couldn't figure out what this lil switch was.. and against ever thing I know as a man.. I read the directions! Don't revoke my MAN MEMBERSHIP, fellas!

  14.

    NGK: Japanese Cars

    Bosch: European Cars

    Autolite: American Cars

    Champion: Lawn mowers

I LOVE THIS GUY! LMAO!! LAWN MOWERS!

Sorry for double posting like this.. But He's got a point.. I used to run AUTOLITES and few degrees colder in my H22 delSol w/ a 100 shot of NOS.. the only reason?? Cuz they were dirt cheap to run on the track where they got destroyed every lap!! But on the ride home.. Please believe the NGK's went back in!

  15. I just looked up the NGK laser platinum plugs and sounds like platinum is on both center and ground electrodes. This should be good for subaru's wasted spark ignition system.

Where do you get them and for how much?

NAPA.. $12.50 a pop but thats an Alaska price.. Might be cheaper in the Lower 48!

THEY WORK beautifully man! Seriously! I paired them with new plug wires, they were kinda rusty.

  16. engines need 3 things to run...

AIR ... check your filters, sensor plugs & piping

FIRE... changes your spark plugs, check your wires & ignition components

FUEL... change your fuel filter, put some injector cleaner in the tank.

Simple yet effective. Had a similar problem recently w/ my 99' 2.2L Legacy.

Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter & Oil Change(prolly didn't fix the priblem) cleared it right up.
