  1. I have a gl wagon that just lost a bunch of power and started spitting exhaust out of the oil fill and dip stick. there's no water getting into the oil either. I was told it is either a blown head or just the gasket but, in all my expiriences a blown head or gasket dumps water into the oil too. any one have a better diag. ?
  2. I have an 87 gl wagon no turbo and about two or three weeks ago I notice a considerable loss in power. Now if it runs for more than 10 mins it starts puffing lotts of smoke out of where you pour the oil in and around the dip stick. Nothing comes out of the tail pipe though. Is it time for me to bury my car or is it salvagable?
  3. my 87 1800 non turbo is idling very rough so i had the person i got it from take a look. they said the fuel air mix was wrong and wrenched the sh$t out of it. a couple of days after the timing belts went out. when i took the air filter off it was soaked with fuel. I need to know where to set the fuel air mix screw at? not where the screw is I know that much just don't know where to adjust it to.
  4. You rule Hooziewhatsit. Worked first try.
  5. i have an 87 gl wagon 1800 non turbo. the tensioner on the left timing belt went out. i pulled everything apart and replaced the broken stuff. Now I have the crank set to top dead center and the right cam mark is lined up with the notch. Now when i set the mark on the left cam pulley the rotor on the distibutor is not in the #1 position. If I put the rotor in the 1 spot the hole in the pulley is down and to the left. Is this ok or did I realy fu$k my car up?
  6. Found problem. Timing tentioner broke and shreaded my belts.
  7. i don't think I have one cause there is one fuel line that connects to the carb and it goes straight into the firewall and i can't get to it behind that.
  8. the book I have says there is a fuel filter either in the engine compartment or the back by the fuel pump not both. on the car the fuel line comes out of the firewall and straight to the carb.
  9. me and a couple of friends have searched the engine compartment and i can't find it. I changed the one near the fuel pump. Does it look the same as the back one?
  10. i had new timingbelts put in two months ago. I poped th distributor cap and turned it over, and the rotor spins
  11. where is the second. The hanes manual only lists one. Unless you mean the small one inside the carb?
  12. I have an 87 GL wagon with the 1800 no turbo. It died while sitting at a light and wouldnt start back up. I replaced the spark plugs and wires, as well as the distributor cap and rotor. no good. then i tryed the fuel filter. no good. I checked the timing belt and they're fine. When I try to start it i smell gas so it's not the fuel pump. Anyone have any clue as to what's wrong?
