  1. I don't know but the shift handle is in neutral but the trans is in 4th. When I push in the clutch the shifter won't go in any gear, including 4th. From this thread http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23293 It sounds like I need to pull the tranny. If so, it's going on the marketplace.
  2. My GL is stuck in 4th gear. I've been hearing a tell-tale high pitched noise lately and figured the throw out bearing was going out. The shift lever is in neutral and when I try to shift into gear it grinds like the clutch isn't engaged although, when I press the clutch in the rpms drop down. Just wondering what I'm dealing with.
  3. It's showing 8/10ths of a volt. The coil is wired correctly and the connections look sound, may clean/replace the connectors. Now the ECS is showing a 33 code.
  4. Now the ecs idiot light flashes after driving a while instead of staying on. The ECS itself is showing a 73 code again; car still runs fine tho'.
  5. That's the truth. Finally found one from a GL10 4wd it was also a nippondenso. The car runs fine now. However, after a while the ECS light comes on. Maybe something else is causing the distributor/module to fail and this distributor is doomed as well. Before I replaced the distributor the engine would cut out above 3K rpm and when warm. Runs great now except for the damn ECS light.
  6. The way to test those is a test light on the yellow side of the coil? Maybe some others? Went to the pick-your-part today to look for a "disty" or module but no luck.
  7. I've only visually inspected so far, grounds look good. Vacuum lines so so. Runs fine when cold. Hate to send it to the glue factory. thanks.
  8. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem? Guess it's time to break out the multi-meter... Thanks
  9. 84 GL, ECS light comes on and off killing engine. Checked code shows a 73. Disconnected computer car still runs the same. When running it's as though the key is being turned on and off rapidly. Any pointers???
  10. Finally (after months of this unexpected excitment of no clutch with no warning) I dropped the 2 bucks and put a clevis pin in. Not a whole lot of working room up there due to the brackets etc. Now I'm set for another 160K miles!
  11. Great idea! I was going to notch each side with a hacksaw and use a clip. Thanks for the assist!
  12. I've got a GL clutch pedal problem. There is a "pin" that goes thru the clutch pedal arm and holds the cable. This pin looks like it should have a circlip or some sort of retainer. It keeps popping out at the worst time leaving me with no clutch. Anyone had to deal with this and/or suggestions?
