  1. Haven't seen any bubbles in the raditor... The temp gage has been fine.. It only got hot once, that was about a yr ago....
  2. It is a 97 Outback wagon 2.5l engine... The oil appears fine no problems.. No bubbles in the tank... I had asked them because it has been almost 2yrs since it was changed and I was getting a funny smell when I opened up the radiator cab that seemed to smell like oil... Know that the coolant is fresh I will have to keep a eye on it.. Also the coolant in the tank gets durty and grim builds up on the inside.. When I looked in side it was hard to tell if there appeared to be a oily residue on the top so that is another reason why I had asked them that question....
  3. I change mine in or 97 Outback Wagon every 3000 miles. I have gone as far as 7000 on a few ocasions but very few... It now has 161k on it and does have a questionable head gasket problem...
  4. Does any of the following conditions mean head gasket problem... Oil in engine coolant, engine coolant in oil.... I know the seocnd one does, but what about the first.. Today I had my engine coolant flushed and changed.. I was told there was oil in the coolant... I don't notice any problems like overheating smoke coming out from the exhaust or stuff so I wasn't sure... I had asked them to check when the changed it because in the reserve tank the coolant didn't look right... Thanks
  5. LOL now that I lost my job the force is what I will need.... Maybe it will help me find another..
  6. I'm gong to buy the part, and the tester that will reset the computer when the job is done....
  7. My problems with the Haynes version is recently I need to replace a Knock Sensor and it tell me to remove the intake manifold, plus drain the engine fluid to access it... I find form a picture at this site and talking to a mechanic that that is not true... I do have haynes, but plan on buying the factory one instead...
  8. I have a 1997 Legacy Outback with 148k miles and never had a head gasket go yet. The only issue gasket wise is a continue valve cover gasket leak. It has been replaced 3 times and already and needs to be done again.....
  9. Hi I jsut recently had my check engine light on and found that the knock sensor was not working. The mechanic said it was easy to get to. But the repair manual says to remove the intake manifold... What they have listed on the invoice is as follows 1961 R&R Knock Sensor 99972 Engine Knock Sensor My Subaru is a1997 Legacy Out back wagon..... I usually try and do all my own work and have been successful, but is it worth doing or just pay the 72 bucks..... Thanks and I hope to be here more often....
