  1. Hi; I have a 92 Legacy that has developed starting problems. It was fine during summer if you did a cold start without pressing on the accelerator at all. Then when it got cold outside, it began to not start. Now it will only start with the accelerator pedal pressed down on the floor. With the key 'on' but not starting, the electric fuel pump is at 40 lbs. With the engine running, it's at 50 lbs. If the fuel line is pinched, it goes to 80 lbs. After running the engine for 10 minutes and then letting the car set for about 30 minutes, the engine starts fine with no throttle. Husband just put in a new fuel filter after these problems started. Twelve months ago he replaced the fuel regulator, fuel pump relay switch, coolant thermosensor and it worked good for a year. He has not rechecked the coolant thermosensor. Any guesses as to what the problem is? Having a car that starts reliably is very important to me as I'm a hospice volunteer. Thank you!
  2. I want to thank everyone who answered my last question about my 1992 Legacy being hard to start. We've conquered that problem (it was the coolant sending unit; it had the wrong ohm reading)... but... now it starts but runs about 15 minutes, then there is a 'click' in the dashboard somewhere and the fuel pump quits working and of course the engine dies. After maybe another 20 minutes it can be started again. Lather, rinse, repeat. My husband's question is, is the fuel pump itself causing this relay to trip, or is the relay itself over heating or something? He's currently tearing the dashboard out... it's getting ugly out there lol. I was hoping he'd get this fixed before now; I'm a hospice volunteer and really need my car back! Thanks in advance,
  3. I have a 1992 Legacy. It has run fine since we got it a few years ago, but suddenly it won't start when cold. It cranks and cranks, and then you smell gas. It has a fuel injector system, but is acting like a carburetor flooding! It got worse today; today it wouldn't start at all, and it's spewing gas and catching on fire. Any guesses? Husband is great with old vehicles but this fuel injector has him baffled. Any guesses? Thanks!
