thanks for the tip, looks like they are called Spark plug seals. I suspect I can replace them and the valve cover gaskets myself.

Just bought a 99 Subaru Lagacy wagon, 2.2 liter, 90,000 miles. I pulled out the spark plug caps and noticed oil on them near the top where i presume the valve cover gasket is. Am I seeing a valve cover gasket leak to all four spark plug chambers?
