Yep. It's a turbo with an automatic transmission. But I'm still surprised that it doesn't get at least 24 or 25 mpg. I don't really care. It's still the most awesome car I've ever owned and I plan to keep it for a god while.

I'm on my third Subaru. Currently we have a 2005 Outback and a 2005 Forester. We take the Outback on longer road trips and scoot about town in the Forester. So, my advice to you for you wife's longish commute would be the Outback.

I bought a 2005 Forester 6 weeks ago and I have not gotten more than 20 per gallon. I love the car, but it does get thirsty quickly.

I just bought a 2005 Forester 2.5XT and because I have three dogs, I also purchased the dog guard/compartment divider. I was shocked to discover that the retractable cover can not be used if the dog gate is installed. Does anyone know of a fix for this? The dog gate screws into the roof, so it's not so easy to just take it out and pop it back in.
