  1. I have a 97 Outback with ~140k miles and stick with the OEM parts. Soon I'll be replacing the crap rubber lines with Goodridge braided stainless and DOT5 fluid throughout. Good lines and fluid will make a HUGE difference in power and feel. I do a fair bit of towing, especially in the summer (racebikes to track, moving stuff, etc.) and have zero trouble with the OEM parts. I change fluids & pads regularly and just replaced the rotors too last weekend. Buy OEM from Liberty Subaru and mention the board here for 25% off list. Goodridge lines can be had from TireRack and they have EBC rotors too, but i've never tried them. Maybe in another 50k miles when these rotors die....
  2. I looked at a couple from U-Haul and other places and ended up scoring the Subaru item for $125 off ebay. I bought the wiring separately (can't remember $$). I DID need to trim the black plastic at the bottom of the bumper but MUCH prefer that to the other "low-slung" units. Don't drill if it isn't absolutely necessary!! Go OEM in this instance! Just my $.02
  3. thanx for the info! a couple more questions for you: 1. Where did you decided to buy the parts from? 2. Did you do just the springs, or the body lift kit too? 3. Did you do the work yourself, and if so, how long did it take? thanx again! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of it!
  4. The bodies were the same so they should interchange with no problem - 2000 is when the new model came out, so those may or may not work, but a 99 bumper should fit fine on your 97. BTW, I'd love to see pics of your ride - I've got a 97 Outback and want to put on the Scorpion springs & KYB shocks you have listed in your signature - how's the ride/handling? No dunes here in Baltimore, but an extra bit of clearance is what I was going after. Brendan
  5. Josh - love the paint booth! what's the rent for a place like that? LOL all ragging aside, you've still got one of the cleanest cars out there! a totally awesome package you've put together... i'm thinking about the Scorpion kit to lift my OB, and then maybe I'll plunge in to that new turbo Legacy i'm working on your package also - been having issues with my pc's.... i'll get it to you though, no worries! Brendan
