  1. Hi there! I've found many entries online for FSMs for the first gen Legacy but none have the section for AC system components. I think it's section 4. Does anyone have a link to that I could download? Thanks!
  2. What would be a good way to go about finding a solution?
  3. My '92 Legacy hasn't had working AC in a long time. However, I recently brought it to my mechanic and he tracked the issue to a couple connectors under the hood. The receiver/drier has an electrical connector coming off it that connects with a different connector right next to it. He disconnected them, jumped two of the contacts on one of the connectors with a piece of spare wire, and BAM, the compressor turned on and the car started blowing cold air. My mechanic said at one point he was able to get it working without jumping the contacts by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the two connectors, but that was short loved and now isn't working that way. What exactly do I need to fix here and where can I find replacement wires or connectors? I'm not sure where to start. Attached is a photo of the problematic connectors coming off the receiver/drier.
  4. Mine is the FWD automatic. I'll have to check out the fluid levels. I am not confident in the injectors because those are some of the only things I've not looked at yet over the years. Any recommendations for replacements if necessary? The coil and wires are newer so hopefully that's not the issue.
  5. Hey guys. So my 1992 Legacy Wagon has an issue where nowadays I'll sometimes start the car and go to drive away, but I can feel that it's just not got all the power you'd expect from depressing the gas pedal. The revs climb higher than normal while my foot is on the gas, but there's not a lot of power delivery. It essentially just feels like it's stuck in 1st or 2nd gear maybe, but I don't know. Usually after driving at speed for a few minutes it tends to return to normal and I have full power when depressing the gas pedal. If it helps, I also have occasional hard starts and an elusive issue with my starter not wanting to start the car. So, what do you think it could be?
  6. Hello all. As a preface, I've tried to do as much reading on this forum and others educating myself on which ATF might be appropriate for my 1992 Legacy. I purchased the car a little over 2 years ago without knowing any of the maintenance history, and even though the current fluid is still a brighter pink/red I'd like to change the transmission fluid in the near future. However, the manual calls for DEX II or IIE and obviously those are not available any longer. I've read some horror stories with people putting in newer, modern fluids that gave some real problems to these older 4EAT transmissions. Do you guys have any thoughts on what ATF I can put in my old Legacy?
  7. Hmm. Yes, I did find that and others, but they all say they do not fit my vehicle.
  8. I hate to keep asking, but I just can't find these seals you're referring to. Could you by chance provide a link somewhere?
  9. I'm looking on Rock Auto for the valve cover gaskets, but I can't seem to find these seals you are referring to. Any thoughts?
  10. Hmm. I replaced the valve cover gaskets this time last year; could I just open up the valve covers again and reuse the same gaskets when I replace these bucket seals? Never heard of those.
