I just replaced my cabin filter about 2 months ago. I the original in for 2 years and when i took it out it was nasty. You probably wont be able to cut out and replace the filter mesh and reuse the plastic frame from the old filter. I remember that the plastic became brittle and cracked. Just take out the glove box with a screwdriver, and the plastic trim piece along the center console. There is 1 plastic screw in the foot well. The rest is plastic clips that you can pry the piece off gently. Pretty easy maintenance.

Not very blody likely. . . . Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. . .
SOA seems to think that North American drivers do not need to ever leave the pavement. . .
I think i read a car and driver article a few years back that said something like 96 percent of SUVs never will go off road. Blame all of the cell phone moms loading 1 bag of groceries in the back of a spotless Ford Excursion....

ouch 415 bucks for a 2001 complete set. Why are they so expensive? I downloaded the .pdf files from http://techinfo.subaru.com . I think i bought 2 $20 packages to finish the downloads.

it wasnt exactly a reconmendation, he doesnt use it either... Just food for thought. Stuff like that is kinda outta my price range for the moment in time, especially since its hearsay.

My future pops-in-law was telling me about this stuff he heard about on a talk show radio program. I read the info and it sounds intriguing. Anyone else try or even hear of it???

On an 01 you have to take out the glove box. its bolted together with the cruise control module up in the right side of the glove compartment area. To my knowledge there was no reset button when i intalled my system this winter.

I know i probably have a bent wheel that i moved to the front because i noticed that i have a shimmy in the steering wheel at highway speeds. How much are you supposed to torque the lug nuts down to? One other question... How often does anyone change their power steering fluid.. ive never done it

Background: 2001 legacy, 47500 mi, 24000 miles on tires, rotate them myself every 7500.
Since it was a beautiful day yesteday i decided to rotate my tires. When i took it out for a spin i noticed a short vibration in the steering wheel. I also heard the noise resonate into the cabin. I adjusted all the tire pressures to 32 front-30 rear as normal. I get the vibration when going from a stop and turining left. There is no problem when turning right or going straight. Any opinions would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy
AWD systems: manual 5sp vs auto
in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX

I have a 5 speed Legacy with the open-diff. Just about as basic as it gets. I have never gotten stuck in snow (here in PA I expect atleast 3-4 inches of snow a night). I prefer the control of a manual when driving in snow. They have a description of the AWD systems on the subaru.com website. The only thing is regret is visiting my parents in DC and sitting in 2 hrs of traffic clutching it...
