  1. I have 93 Impreza w/ almost 210,000 miles on it, and when I go around corners it feels as if I am pushing a clutch in a little then it grabs again. RPM's go up and then it grabs? I need a good source on finding a rebuilt one. Max
  2. I have a slow coolant leak thru timing belt cover only when eng is running. I'm thinking water pump seal, but it is draing between center cover and pass side cover. HMM any info is splendid! Max
  3. I had the same problem and the coolant temp sensor never fixed it, I don't what to cover next, and the is no CEL codes? max
  4. I put in the engine coolant temp sensor, and my car does the same thing? It is really hard to start on mornings, always when it is cold. I will let it turn over up to 10 times and it mights stumble, but not start at all and then when I release the key it backfires. This happens maybe 2 times a morning, then I try it again, and it won't even click over. So then I usually wait 5-10 minutes and can usually get it after a few tries. Maybe it's the mileage. I have a MY93 Impreza L 4EAT EJ18, w/ 206,000 miles Any help woul be great! Max
  5. Any shortcuts on changing the engine coolant temp sensor? It's in a tight spot! Max
  6. I plan on installing a coolant temp sensor, soon. I want to avoid getting air into the system while changing it. Is there any trickery or simple guidelines to follow? Any knowledge or thoughts will probably help. Max
  7. Who manufactures the coolant sensor for Subaru? I live about 60 miles away from the nearest dealership. Auto Zone is just down the road, they sell a Wells sensor, but I have had a lot of problems in the long past with replacement parts that weren't sold by Subaru. Any guesses or suggestions would be great! Max
  8. Thanks, I'll go ahead and get one of those sensors in a week or two before it get really cold out. That is when it get's really hard to start Max
  9. Smells like fuel but, not too bad, but sometimes more than others. Also at startup I get a lot of carbon spraying out of the exhaust. It goes away after a few minutes Max
  10. I just crossed 200,000 miles on my 1993 Impreza L EJ18, 3 days ago. Definately worth a few Guiness! Max
  11. My ole' 93 Impreza has been having some issues starting sometimes. When ever it does start, for about 30 seconds after start-up it sprays out carbon out of exhaust. It actually leaves black on the pavement (kinda looks like I was aiming black spray paint). Any help is much obliged, thanks Max Also in same forum, see my post on trouble starting, this could relate to a bad ECT sensor? I don't know.
  12. I have a 1993 Impreza L, just ran over 200,000 miles! I am experiencing the hard to start problem a few others have been experiencing. It just keeps turning over, and turning over, but only when it is cold outside. If it is warm out, it fires up after 1-2 cranks. Also usually only overnight when it hasn't ran for about 10 hours. And with winter coming up fast. I need to fix this. My question is for those who got a new ECT gauge, how can the coolant temperature sensor help during start-up, isn't the ECU not paying attention to sensors during start-up? One other thing, those who did put in the new sensor, is it still working good? Any reply would be appreciated Thanks, Max
