  1. Outback Sports don't come with the 2.5L until 2002 or 2003. 96 O/B Sports, are 1.8L, 97-2001 2.2L. One question though... Distributer cap and rotor? Never seen one on a car newer than like 1990. My 93 Impreza L has a coil back, not a distributer.
  2. Impreza's have the EJ18 (1.8) for 93 and 94, the EJ22 didn't go into them until 95, so for 95 and 96 you could only get the EJ22 in an Impreza LX with an automatic, the 96 Outback Sport didn't even have the 2.2. In 97, only automatic Impreza's had the 2.2. In 98, Subaru dropped the 1.8, leaving the EJ22 for all Impreza's, and in 99-01 came the 2.5RS which had the EJ25.
  3. The 96 is totalled. That's the only reason I am considering doing it this way. How is it that its a wiring nightmare? I know nothing about this stuff, my uncle is gonna help me do it. I'm pulling the A/C off the 2.2 once I get it out of the car so that's one less thing I'll have to deal with.
  4. I have a 93 Impreza FWD, 5 spd manual. (With the 1.8L obviously). I also have a 96 Impreza LX AWD, automatic. I am wondering if I can possibly swap the 2.2 into my 93, or if I would have to get a new engine AND transmission that was originally a 5 speed. Basically, can I take the 2.2 out of the automatic, and bolt it directly to a 5 speed tranny? Thanks...
