  1. It’s an automatic so no shift boot. It’s a beige/tan interior.
  2. I can pull the door handles. They all work well.
  3. Tearing apart a 1980 Subaru GL wagon automatic. Wondering if anybody has any interest in any trim parts or glass or doors etc. I think the transmission governor is apple cored but not sure. Let me know what you need and I’ll let you know if it is available. I live in southern Oregon if anyone wants stuff. May be willing to ship at buyers expense.
  4. Car isn’t moving but the motor moves just enough that I can’t get the bolt to move before the bar runs out of room to keep moving.
  5. It’s for American market is that considered right hand drive? Thanks for the info.
  6. I have a 1981 Subaru gl wagon with the EA81 and I need to remove the crank pulley to replace the front main seal and oil pump. I have googled and looked in this forum along with my Hayes manual but I can’t figure out how to get the bolt loosened because the motor will turn. I’ve tried it in 4th gear with a cheater bar with no luck. It turns the motor but the bolt won’t break loose. There’s nothing on the pulley that would allow for a bolt or screw driver to help stop it from turning and I can’t get anything in the flywheel teeth either. I read that it’s standard righty tighty so I’m turning it the correct way. Any ideas? Thanks.
  7. I’ve only been able to find a rebuild service for carters. National does it for $229 now. I decided at that cost to go ahead with a Weber for $320 since my carter was always problematic and being a single barrel was gutless. Good luck with the hunt. https://nationalcarburetors.com/Subaru-1800-1982-1985-1781-CC-MT-4WD-w2-Vacuum-Lines-on-Pulse-Solenoid_p_354.html
  8. I know that this is my topic but I found a bumper. It’s the longer one as shown on the black Brat. Now the issue is will it work on my second generation 1981 GL wagon? Thanks
  9. I am looking for the front white tube bumper for my 1981 GL wagon. Thanks.
  10. I am wondering if a dipstick from an EA82 will work in a EA81? Are they the same length? I believe that the one in my 81 4wd wagon is out of a 87 4wd wagon, it has a yellow handle and I’m not sure to trust the oil reading. Searched the forum and no luck. Thanks.
  11. I’m definitely of that mind set.
  12. It won’t work. I got ahold of one and it has a couple less holes in the base than the ea81. Guess it’s time to rebuild the throttle shaft and try to convert the vacuum secondary to mechanical. Or Weberize.
  13. I’ve been looking at service manuals and parts catalogs they all look the same but can’t tell if there is internal differences. Mine has vacuum control for the secondary and this one has a manual (which I prefer) but I want to make sure that it will work before I buy it. Thanks
  14. I have an ea81 hitachi carburetor that has been rebuilt but has considerable play in the throttle shaft. Runs good but idle is all over the place 800-1200. Carb spray at the shaft smooths it out. I found a barely used ea71 carburetor with zero play in the throttle shaft but it seems a hassle to use this carburetor but I’m wondering if I can just use the base off the 71 on my carburetor? Thanks
  15. I realize this is a 14 year old thread but I am having a problem with the duty solenoids on my 81. It won’t idle above 400rpm with them hooked up unless the idle screw is turned way in then it will idle poorly. I unhooked the solenoids and it then idles perfectly until I drive it til warm and then it wants to idle between 1700-2200 rpm’s. I can sometimes rev it up real quick and about 50% of the time it will drop off to 800. Drives and accelerates fine just that little annoying thing. Any cure? I’d love to get the Weber but not possible at this time unless someone has a cheap one laying around. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
  16. So a first generation wagon hood will work with the Brat?
  17. GD-Thanks for the info, I didn’t realize that they were first generation til 82.
  18. Will a 1980 gl wagon hood fit on a 1980 Brat? Thanks and if not does anyone have a brat hood? Thanks
  19. Looking for a switch button for my Subaru 3rd eye. I have the switch but missing the button for it. Thanks.
  20. I am unable to complete my front end rebuild of my 1981 GL 4WD wagon due to not being able to source any front strut cartridges. I have googled, called the dealer, tried the big box auto parts stores and eBay. I can find bellows, mounts and springs but no cartridges. Anyone have a source? Thanks. I have even tried looking for them for a 1987 Brat.
