  1. I have a 02 WRX wagon(best car i've ever owned)....I had the dealership fix the fuel leak(in cold climate)problem last summer. No charge(i had received recall letter from Subaru USA.The fuel leak has came back,i noticed in lake tahoe 2 wks ago.Should i contact local dealership,or write/call/e-mail Subaru USA??Only happens in 20* or less, but the fuel odor is very strong in the cabin! Thanks.
  2. Thanks to all for info and advice!I went with mountain(made in japan)rotors(80.00ea),adaptive one hybrid ceramic pads(65.00total),a friend(from work/part-time mechanic)installed them for me for 100.00.They work great!(Subaru dealer wanted 575.00)I saved 250.00...THANKS!
  3. Is it best to buy rotors and pads from Subaru dealership? What is a fair price for labor from a good independent mechanic? Thanks
  4. Clock doesn't work on my wrx wagon....I've look for a bad fuse, but can't find any fuse connecting to clock???Loose wire maybe??
  5. Thanks subaru360 and Petersubaru for your advice! What's up with these subaru dealers??I know everybody wants to make a buck, but come on ,that's like stealing! It's too bad, that such a great car is backed by these scamming guys,I will continue with my mechanic(working on my cars for 20 yrs),real funky looking garage, but he knows what he's doing.(and at a fair price)Now,i see why, all of you, do your own work!!!Thanks again
  6. I bought a 02 wrx wagon yesterday for $8500...rear bumper is bashed in pretty good, having it replaced next week for $600,car has 64k miles.Question:Can my independent mechanic handle 60k service, including R/R spark plugs(subaru dealer mech told me plugs are 2.5hr job???)My mech has kept my 93 legacy touring wagon running great for 3yrs.This wrx wagon is a blast to drive, and i'm driving nothing but subaru forever. Thanks for your help!
  7. I NEED SOME HELP.I bought a 2004 legacy sedan a few mos ago.Subaru dealer told me inhibiter switch is the reverse/backup light switch...$80 for the switch,my mechanic(very good independent mechanic) put it in,checked fuse, replaced bulbs....still no backup lights. We are stumped and need your help. Thanks

  9. Hi,I have a 93 legacy touring wagon(turbo) and it runs great(I can't believe it took me so long to buy a subaru).Problem:check engine light comes on alot, sometimes goes off, sometimes not.My mechanic(independent mech.,very good and doesn't overcharge like the subaru dealership!) can't find the codes ,to figure out the problem. Can anyone in cyberspace help me find the codes,so I can help him out? Thanks,Pat
  10. Thanks for the feedback. The wagon runs great and is fun to drive(my 1st car with a turbo). When I popped off fuse box lid at dealership, there was a extra(15)inside,so I popped it in and on my way, thanks though.
  11. Thanks for the feedback....that was my impression of local dealership(kinda shakey on replacing a fuse).I'll start asking local subaru owners and I will post any problems here on the board. My wagon is really fun to drive.
  12. Yes,it is a turbo,and it really get's going,when the turbo kick's in!Thanks for the feedback.
  13. I bought a 93 legacy touring wagon a month ago.I got it for ski trips to Lake Tahoe,in fact,I drove it up to Tahoe 3 days after I got it,looking for snow packed roads to test out the 4wheel drive.I paid top dollar(6000.00) for it,but it only had 75000 miles on it and really clean and well cared for.The car ran like a top on the trip.Got all my ski gear packed in easily, with room to spare.Do all of you take your cars to the subaru local dealerships or independent mechanics?I went to the local dealer to replace a fuse, and I knew more about it(owners manual) than the parts counter guy. Thanks
