  1. Got desperate and picked the idlers up from the dealer since all my other parts were in and wanted to get it back together. Coming in at $79 each, it was a real stainer . Subaru Parts guy indicated the 2 idler pulleys are now the same. Next time I will Ebay... Thanks for the help!
  2. Had the bearing go on the Timing belt toothed sprocket (131K). Dosen't look like any valve damage. Want to replace both of the smooth idler pulleys but local parts store only lists one. The ones on the car look different from each other although the seem to be about the same fit when installed (same bolt and offset). Do I need to get the right idler or are they interchanable? Would do the ebay thing but don't have time and already have most other parts ordered. Thanks
  3. Hi, my 99 outback (2.5.L) Seems to start fine runs for a few seconds then craps out. I can kind of keep it running if I pump the crap out of it but eventually dies. Suggest fuel or injection system issues. I did notice some friggin mice screwing around under the hood:mad: and I have caught a couple now in traps. Might of chewed a wire somewhere? Haven't had a chance to do any serious diagnosis yet. Any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Thanks Porkupine, I've tried the hard slam, sometimes works til I close my drivers door and it pops the hatch far enough open to turn on the light. Dosen't bother me really but complicates locking doors (no audible on remote lock). Also I couldn't reprogram my remotes because the computer thought the door was open.... Any other help out there?
  5. Hi, I have a 99 Outback Wagon. The rear hatch indicator light on the dash indicates the door is open when I know its closed. I have tried adjusting and shimming the rear hatch strike and latch with no success . If I push on the rear hatch from the outside I can see the light go out but when I let up it comes back on. Is there some adjustment I am missing? Any help? Thanks
  6. Hey Thanks for the input! The TSB describes my problem to a T. Hopefully its a quick fix... Thanks Again!
  7. Greetings, been lurking here for awhile but finally made the big dive, got my first Subaru, 99 Outback Wagon with 70K ($6500). I thought it was a great deal . It has had damage in the rear but seems tight. Anyway yesterday the clutch pedal started only coming about halfway back up after shifting, cruise wouldn't work because pedal was not engaging safety switch. I could lift the pedal with my toe and it would "thump" and return back to normal position. A little trouble getting it into gear and it popped out of reverse on me once. Today it seemed to work fine returning to normal position and no trouble getting into gear. Any advice on what the problem may be???? Thanks
