  1. Rock on!! Thanks for that link. I am ordering it up!
  2. I am needing to replace the front wheel bearings in my 93 Loyale. I am looking around on the net for the parts and different sites are telling me different things. On one the bearings (inner and outer) look like they are packed and sealed. On another it appears that I need to purchase the bearings and seals seperately. Does anyone have a list of what exactly I need to do this job? I want to make sure i have everything on hand before I start.
  3. For anyone that is interested, that was my problem. Now the car runs fine and has a lot more pep too! I have also noticed gas mileage has gone up! Thanks again for your ideas!
  4. Well...I think that I figured out the problem. The coil and coil wire have gone bad. I had someone press the gas while I was looking under the car and I got shocked! That made me think.... I looked at the coil and had them do it again...sure enough, there were sparks coming from under the boot to the coil bracket. The coil terminal has a crack in it. I have ordered a coil and a new set of wires....I am 98% sure this is the problem. It all has to do with the path of least resistance. I will let you know tomorrow when I install the coil and the wires.
  5. Anyone know where I can score another one. ASide from the dealer?
  6. Hey guys...I have come to the Subaru Repair Geniuses once again with hopes that you all can get me out of yet another bind. 93 Loyale 2wd When I come to a stop sometimes, the car starts bucking and coughing and eventually cuts off. Sometimes it starts up sometimes it putters when I start it, and sometimes it works fine. I have checked all the connections on the distributor and everything looks fine. I do notice a smell of fuel like it is running really rich. Does this sound to you like a vacuum leak of some sort? Maybe that crazy boot that is at the top of the intake? There is a ton of tape on it from the last owner, but I dont see or hear any leaks there. Would love to hear your ideas and suggestions as to what I should look at next. Nick
  7. Well...It turns out the answer to my problem was a simple solution. The auxilliary fan was not coming on. And the reason for that....are you ready? Was because the guy who did the timing belt a few months back must have forgotten to plug it back in when he put the radiator back in. Thanks guys for all your help. I learned a lot and apprecaite your willingness to help. I guess us Subaru owners are family!
  8. Yea I did replace the thermostat with an aftermarket one when I had the t-belt and waterpump done, but I am thinking now that I will get one from the dealer....as well as that o ring you are speaking of. I will also give the heater thing a try as well to see if that make a difference to give me indication as to where to look. Again, many thanks for the help I always seem to find here on this forum. I wish I could contribute to the knowledge base instead of sucking it dry... The help is appreciated guys. I will let you know what I discover. Nick
  9. I replaced the radiator cap last night....the old one looked fine, but I went ahead and got a new one. Took it out for a drive and had the same problem. I am going to try burping the system one more time to get any air out and if that doesnt work, I guess I will replace the radiator. Thanks guys.
  10. So I have a 93 Loyale and I am having problems with it running hot. I had the timing belt replaced a while back along with the water pump, thermostat, hoses, and the temperature sensor. Recently I have noticed that the car has been running warmer than I think it should. The guage gets to between halfway and three quarters of the way to overheating. I also notice a faint coolant smell. What should I be looking for? There are no visible leaks that I can see. The engine doesnt seem to be losing coolant. Any suggestions? Should I try to get a cooler running thermostat? Could it be a head gasket problem?
  11. General Disorder- I finally got around to getting those resistors installed that you recommended. Problem solved! I really do appreciate your help and patience with me on this. And thanks for explaining what the resistor does to fool the ECU as well. N
  12. I have a 93 Loyale with leaky front seals and I am going to attempt to change them. While I am in there I am going to change out the Timing belt and tensioners, crank seal, cam seals, water pump and gasket, radiator hoses, as well as the oil pump seals. Where is the best place to get this stuff online? Does anyone make a kit? Are there any brands I should stay away from in regards to the Timing components? I realize there are umpteen resources for buying this stuff online, I was just curious as to who anyone on the board has used and been happy with.
  13. Thanks, GD. Its awesome that you took the time to help me understand. Makes perfect sense to me now. I really appreciate it. I will let you know how it turns out....even though I am confident it will work after hearing what you had to say.
  14. General Disorder- You said that there are 2 solenoids that I can replace this with. Can you tell me where the other one is. I would like to go ahead and get both of them taken care of now to alleviate headaches down the road. Also, if you don't mind, what is the principle behind this. As I said in an earlier post I am a bit retarded when it comes to electronics, but I would like to understand what a resistor does to fool the computer. Rather than just fixing it and moving along, I would like to understand the electric principle. Again...I really do appreciate your patience and help on this problem I am having.
