  1.

Ralph Nader is needed, and no, 100+ people having the problem is REAL.

You know I don't know if this is a real problem or not - but this makes me chuckle...... how many vehicles with this "problem" were sold between the 2005 and 2009 model year?

and over 100 people have reported this issue! So it must be real!

Too bad this isn't a category in the Consumer Reports ratings!

  2. I think I would have bought the factory Sirius kit and sold the aftermarket headunit. Then just put the sirius kit in yourself. Keeps the steering controls, keeps it factory and keeps it under warranty. The Headunit should bring some decent money too.

$389 for the factory kit.....vs $35 for mounting kit and wiring harness.....

I don't think a 2 year old alpine head unit I bought for $200 would bring in much now.

  3. ??

I installed a hidden hitch on my 97, it was very easy. I just dont understand what you mean by 2" aside from the reciever. The Hitches on the link say they are 2"

yeah, 2" receiver as opposed to 1 1/4. My bike rack is a Thule T2 - designed for a 2" opening.

The part that makes me nervous is this:

Also, all three say "Exhaust must be temporarily lowered for installation, Minor heat shield modification may be required."

Although I'm not doing it myself - I'd get help......

  4. Ok some of you asked for pics - I promise they are coming but I haven't been home in the daylight - so watch for tomorrow.....

Anyway I need to put a 2" hitch on so I can cart around my bicycles with my Thule T2

Are the DIYers safe? Curt, Hidden Hitch or Draw Tite?

but I gotta admit I'm a little nervous cracking open the dash on my brand new car - has anyone opened up a 2010 and have helpful tips?

ie: on my husband's 04. I opened it up and put in the fm direct connect. I NEVER would have seen the upside down hidden screws in the ash tray except that I had the crutchfield instructions and they point them out.

  6. :confused:I have a 2009 impreza outback sport with 6k miles and am wondering what is REQUIRED maintenence for my subaru? I have been getting emails from the dealer saying I am due/overdue for "recommended" maintenence, but if I followed their schedule I would be spending a fortune every 3k to 5k miles to have things done. Is all these little things necessary or is there a simple way to do what is required and not lose my factory warranty. Thanks.......

on all my cars I've always just done oil change every 3-4k, rotate the tires every other oil change and I have done the big interval maintenaces - 30, 60, 90, 120K.

and **Knock on wood** I've never had a warranty item denied for "lack of recommended maintenance."

  7. I do business with the dealer in Danbury.

I am am with the rest..the EJ25 is plenty motor..in fact I have been extremely impressed with it. Supposedly the newer versions have the dependability issues solved and so far mine has had not a single problem in 45K miles. Took it to Mass last weekend in those heavy winds and still got 31mpg at 80 mph.

I called them. The salesman said they have no 6cyl and they can't get them in. He said they have open orders that he can't fill and it's "terrible."

so overall I guess the 6 is really off the table.

  8. He is full of it...the dealer... Oh.. Hi from a fellow CT person. I can tell you right now.. I run an 08 Imreza 2.5i and that little 4 cyl has more then enough go go to it ( I took out an RX8 the other day getting on the Merritt) Granted the Imp is much lighter. I also only drive 5 spd ..but I can easily get 32-34 mpg out of it. IMO the 6 cyl isnt that big of a deal..probably most noted if its an AT.

Also.. my local Subaru dealer has a few 6 cyl on the lot..thats why I say yours is talking poo.

What dealer? Ill drive to another dealer for a test ride.

  9. The answer you will get (at least on here) is to go for the sube.

Youll be giving up some ground clearance (a little) and a certain amount of power... but you will come to love the subarus.

When it comes to weight distribution and handling (also advantageous in the snow) Subaru has it.

well I'm good with the ground clearance issue - it's really the power of the 4 vs 6. There are no 6s in CT to even drive. The salesman said they can't get any because they are not making as many because people are buying the 4s.

  10. My husband has an 04 outback (6cyl) and I have a Pathfinder.

I'm thinking about making the leap to the 4cyl outback in favor of much better gas mileage and awd (over part time 4wd).

I'm afraid that I will miss the v6 - what do you think? I mean I know I don't NEEEEEED it. I've driven suvs since 1999 with my first Ford Explorer.

I test drove it today and of course there is a difference but I was surprised at how well it is geared.

FYI We live in CT but travel to southern VT frequently during the winter. My office is 34 miles SOUTH of where I live so obviously I put on a lot of miles....

    thanks for your opinions!

  11. Our 2004 Outback has had a busted fog light for years which we never fixed because the dealer quoted us some outrageous price to fix.

I recently had to replace the tail light on my Pathfinder and realized that it's really kinda easy....

So I can find the part locally for a decent price....now... is it easy to replace (assuming I can get under there.....but I'm short LOL)

    THANKS!
