  1. Can someone get a pic of where the LCD thing for the trip computer plugs into? :-\
  2. Alright, cool. Is it another plug on a wire that the trip computer LCD display plugs into, or does it plug into something else that wouldn't be easily noticed?
  3. Hey I've been searching through the dash of my 1985 Subaru GL-10 , trying to find the plug to plug the trip computer into, but it's apparently no where to be found. Can someone tell me where the wire originates (near the steering wheel or glove compartment or something) and what color the plug is? The plug for the trip computer is lcd thing blue, and I found another blue plug but they won't fit... Seems like a really stupid question but I kinda want it to get working and I've searched places and can't find info about it... thanks.
  4. Yeah I'll give that a shot, if I can't figure it out, it probably won't cost much to get a pro to figure out which plug I messed up... Thanks a lot
  5. Oh yeah it also sounds like there's a hole in a hose somewhere, and when it pumps it makes a sound like air is escaping.
  6. Hey, I've got a 1985 gl-10 and a problem... Any time I turn the key to ACC, it sounds like the fuel pump is pumping for some reason. It'll pump for a second or two, then stop for a second, then pump again. And it won't stop until I turn the key off or start the engine. My question is, what could have caused this? It didn't start until a little while ago when I was trying to hook up fog lights to the car - I was under the dash and plugged in a few plugs that were unplugged. After looking in the repair manual, I found out they are "clear memory" harnesses or something along those lines. Any help at all, suggestions, or questions would be really really greatly appreciated. I replaced the alternator less than a week ago, and I really don't want more problems.
  7. Thanks for the info Cougar. I've got no idea about cars, and I just looked up a bit about battery drain, and I found one place that said "starters have been known to short out at the solenoid and cause a constant drain to ground". Well, my friend's starter is kind of messed up, sometimes he has to hit it with a hammer a couple times to get it to work, so that would lead me to conclude that it's probably the starter that's screwed up, right? I'll do that test on it though to check out if it's draining from anything else though before I go to grab a new starter. Again, thanks alot for that info. :-p
  8. Hey everyone, I'm thinking of buying my buddy's 1985 Subaru GL-10 off of him for $300 (CAD), but there's a problem with it. He says that he's pretty sure it's the alternator. The problem is if you put a new battery in the car, everything will run smoothly, but the battery will die real fast. Could it be a problem with the computer stuff in the car (I'm a big n00b when it comes to cars, bare with me on the very n00bish terms) or would it be the alternator maybe? I really want this car, it will be my first car so I'm pretty excited about getting it. Any help would be great, thanks alot.
