coolant leak '87 Gl EA82

Featured Replies

Hello - I have a coolant leak coming from the top of or the area right above the water pump. It is a stream, sort like a water gun size stream. Could this be the pump itself or a bypass hose? The car is running great but after it has been running at temp for a while the leak starts and I have a good size puddle under the car. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Most likely a bypass hose. If you have AC it's hard too see. It may be an O-ring on the coolant tube, about center on the water pump, drivers side.

I know the DAYCO brand bypass hose is EPDM material like the factory hose. Gates is not, last time I checked. You can get that bypass hose at about any parts store.
