October 8, 200916 yr hey guys, i have got an auto blown 97 ej25 and a 93 ej22 engine to go in and no egr issues to worry about Some of you have helped heaps already!!!! It looks as though i am going to have to swap the intake manifold wiring to make it fit. My main concerns are: can i swap the tps over on throttle bodies as one has 3 wires and one has 4...looks messy otherwise! can i just swap timimg sensors or do i need cam pulleys and sensor from a 95 on ej22. any info much appreciated
October 9, 200916 yr You need to swap the entire throttle body. I'm not sure if the 3-wire throttle body will bolt up to the 93 ej22. Sensors, are the crank & cam triggers the same between the two engines? Was your EJ25 a DOHC or SOHC?
October 9, 200916 yr The cam and crank triggers on the sprockets are the same. The sensors are different. Just swap sensors. I think the throttle body will fit, but you should just try it, it only would take a few mins, 4 bolts and a plug and some hoses.
October 10, 200916 yr What about the idle air control valve? They both should use the same one, mounted on the intake.
October 10, 200916 yr Don't the newer TB's have the IAC valve on the TB....If so, I think you're going to run into issues.
October 13, 200916 yr Author thanks for the advice guys....as soon as i make some headway with this issue i will post the results. Could be a while as the ole fish boat needs attention and the summer is as good as here. Ps it seems as though you guys in the us have more sube choice as the 2.2 never made it to new zealand after 94 ish so thats why it has to be a hard swap with the old wiring or pay huge bucks for a ej25 that will last as long as my breakfast. ps.. 97 DOHC ej25 to 93 SOHC ej22
