October 11, 200916 yr Hi all. Got an 07 Forrester LL Bean normially aspirated. Towing package and leather. 38,000 miles. Traded the 99 Grand Cherokee (piece of shat). Book says only use Subaru ATF. What are the alternatives? Book says I "may" have a LSD in the rear. How do I know? And if I do what lube for that thing? Maintenance/beer day is coming, want to be all set. Ryan
October 11, 200916 yr Hi all. Got an 07 Forrester LL Bean normially aspirated. [...] Book says only use Subaru ATF. What are the alternatives? I assume you're referring to ATF-HP (High Price ). You may find that trustworthy alternatives aren't easy to come by.
October 11, 200916 yr Author Really?! Yikes. When did that change? I run Dex 3 in my 97 wagon. cars101.c0m says I do have LSD in the rear. Do I need a special gear lube or friction additive for that? Ryan
October 11, 200916 yr Really?! Yikes. When did that change? I run Dex 3 in my 97 wagon. HP (''High Performance'') is required starting with '06 models. Initially there was confusion over whether only the 5EAT (but not the 4EAT) needed it. However, there were some internal changes in later 4EATs, and they also should get the ATF-HP. See these threads: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=98645 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=804132 cars101.c0m says I do have LSD in the rear. Do I need a special gear lube or friction additive for that? In a word -- maybe. VLSD/Clutch-type/Torsen? Clutch type requires the additive in the oil. Edited October 11, 200916 yr by OB99W
