October 21, 200916 yr I have a 1999 forester with a 2.5SOHC bad bottom end and I was wondering if I could swap out a 2.5 DOHC bottom end small block? Will the engine(DOHC) bottom end line up with the clutch and trans?
October 21, 200916 yr clutch and trans are definitely not a problem. not sure about heads bolting up.
October 22, 200916 yr The "first" question. Are you sure the DOHC bottom end is good enough to consider to do this amount of work on?
October 22, 200916 yr I know it will work, but I can't remember which head gasket to use. It needs to be the thicker one, which ever one that is... Otherwise it will make some knocking noise due to the piston(s) contacting the head. Edited October 22, 200916 yr by 2.5GL
