need help with start up

i finished putting in and hooking up my 81 hatchback's ea81 and the only two issues i've had so far is the fuel pump didnt work . i ran hot wires from the battery directly to the pump and it worked fine . the car started up like new . does an ea81 have a relay ? all i saw under the dash was a green box with 3 prongs which said timmer assy . could it be a broken wire on the carb not telling it to fill up the bowl ?

i ran it for about 5 minutes with the radiator cap off waiting for the thermostat to open . it didnt , nor did the temp guage on the dash ever rise so i shut it off before it got too hot . the sensor spades are all plugged in so how would i go about tracing it backwards ? thank you . jim .
